Tried getting in a full raid before work. I had about two and a half hours, and joined a fireteam that was all 317+. Everyone in the group had a working mic, sounded adult, and acted mature. As we started the raid, there was no talk of who's doing this or are we using that strategy. Always a good sign.
We get to totems with minimum effort and zero setbacks. As we get to the totems, it happens. The fireteam leader asks if we know the totems cheese. Everyone says yes, and agrees its faster and easier. I stay silent, unsure of how to react. I've heard of the cheese before, and know how to do it in concept. Before today, I had the same opinion of this cheese as I did the no-knight strat; if it gets the job done, and without too much hassle, I don't care.
However, after a full hour on totems we had no success. Most of the fireteam at this point agreed we should just do the normal strategy, but the fireteam leader was adamant. He claimed if we did the normal strat, we would wipe more and take longer. Considering he was the one that died EVERY TIME, I had enough. For the first time in months, I rage quit a raid. Never again will I suffer through the totems cheese. If you insist on it, I'm just going to grab the cp and leave. The warpriest will NOT deem you worthy.
Tl;Dr Kings Fall totems cheese is for noobs who can't do the easiest reward stage of the raid.

It's easy either way, if all players know what the -blam!- they're doing.
-
I agree, totally not worth the effort.
-
The alternate strategy for totems is only easier if you have two really good players on the totems. It's harder for those two people but easier for the other four.
-
I haven't understood it myself. So, you have 1 at each totem, and 4 in the middle. That's better than 2 at each most of the time? I guess if you have two that can hold a totem on their own (haven't tried), then having 4 up top may let you hide a player or 2 that can't seem to stay alive running it normal. Is that accurate?
-
So if the same guy dies on totems while doing the cheese you thought he'd do better doing it legit? Every single time I've joined a PUG that had trouble at totems it was because the people in the middle don't understand you should shoot everything that comes out and let nothing run down to the totems. Only time anything should be allowed to make it to the totems is if the totem person says they need some ammo and to let some thralls run to them. Not sure where all the hate is coming from for this strategy. Both ways are quite easy and work fine. But people should run whatever strat they like.

I want a totem of cheese!
mmm cheese *Homer Simpson drool noise*
-
Fuccccck my lunch ended i cannot keep reading. Ill read it later thou
-
Won't do totems unless it's on normal. But I will admit to using my exotic sword to glitch out the poison by the totem before we ever start. It prevents an accidental wipe if the aura pass gets screwed up.
-
I enjoy being the guy that sits on the totem during the cheese. Non stop action! I do it cuz I like it not cuz of ease or anything. Either way is easy as hell
-
Unless I see one side -blam!- up a lot I won't do the cheese, but if they -blam!- up when cheesing they're just bad and they should feel bad
-
Lol this is what I usually do. Player- let's cheese the totems Me- no.... just no. It's easy to do it normal I'll pass Player- but th Me- no nope notta don't care so your going left there is that.
-
Agreed. If they are struggling with totems, abandon that team with a quickness, for they have no hope in the rest of the raid.
-
Ya last night I had a group of noobs (never done the raid before) in the raid I explained how it works and we got it done in 3 tries. I see no point in doing a cheese that the normal way is easy to do
-
Did it yesterday, just need to make sure the ads are killed. We were carrying a 280 through hm so that's why and we just breezed through it.
-
I don't bother with the cheese. Totems are easy with a well communicated group. If they can't do it legit then it doesn't give me a lot of hope for the rest of the raid. So time to grab that checkpoint and bounce.
-
I'm glad Totems is relatively early in the raid so I can leave after a couple wipes. Just like with Confluxes in VoG, if people can't handle it then it's not worth staying.
-
Same exact thing happened to me last night too
-
I don't know that I'd really call it a "cheese." Was with a group that insisted on doing it that way. The two sword guys died several times causing us to wipe. The normal method takes roughly the same time and places the pressure evenly amongst everyone and not just on two people. If a group is struggling at Totems, that's when I'm looking for a new group.
-
There's a cheese? That's stupid. I find that part easy
-
Ok its not really that hard to do and it sucks that you had issues with a single player but backing out of a lobby because some1 says do the cheese just paints you as the problem. Its a new strategy that takes the community time to get used to it. If you bitch and moan then please stay of lfg so i never have to play with you
-
I tried gouda, not bad...
-
how you are describing this sounds exactly to what happened to me. Were we on the same raid team? so many tries and a guy leaving because of it. coincidence maybe?
-
Yeah I agree these cheese is stupid...bad players are just bad...
-
I had someone try to do this last week... I said we were doing normal or I was leaving. If you can't do normal at totems you're going to have issues at other parts of the raid
-
It all depends on your fireteam with Totems I have found. It's not really a cheese when you wipe more on it then normal strat. You can hide a person on the left plate and he wont get hit by anything but you cant let any ads by. I have done it both ways, and I am usually the guy holding down the right totem alone ( it can be fun unless you run out of ammo). My opinion the normal way is the best way, dont over complicate a simple loot drop, run it, move on, be happy.
-
i feel the cheese is actually harder. The totem guys usually run out of primary ammo and the right totem guy has no cover. I've done it before and if done correctly, it is faster since you cut down the distance of running from mid to totems.
