Tried getting in a full raid before work. I had about two and a half hours, and joined a fireteam that was all 317+. Everyone in the group had a working mic, sounded adult, and acted mature. As we started the raid, there was no talk of who's doing this or are we using that strategy. Always a good sign.
We get to totems with minimum effort and zero setbacks. As we get to the totems, it happens. The fireteam leader asks if we know the totems cheese. Everyone says yes, and agrees its faster and easier. I stay silent, unsure of how to react. I've heard of the cheese before, and know how to do it in concept. Before today, I had the same opinion of this cheese as I did the no-knight strat; if it gets the job done, and without too much hassle, I don't care.
However, after a full hour on totems we had no success. Most of the fireteam at this point agreed we should just do the normal strategy, but the fireteam leader was adamant. He claimed if we did the normal strat, we would wipe more and take longer. Considering he was the one that died EVERY TIME, I had enough. For the first time in months, I rage quit a raid. Never again will I suffer through the totems cheese. If you insist on it, I'm just going to grab the cp and leave. The warpriest will NOT deem you worthy.
Tl;Dr Kings Fall totems cheese is for noobs who can't do the easiest reward stage of the raid.
-
Hell, generally it takes longer to explain how the cheese works then actually running totems...
-
How does one die during the totems.
-
Cheesing totems is for NOOBS. Are you gonna cheese oryx at the end? Oh wait u can't..
-
I got into a random group yesterday as soon as I spawned they asked me if I knew the cheese I had never done it before because it's so easy there's no need but felt like if I said we should do it normal I'd get kicked and I'd been searching for a while lol so we did it and I thought it was the dumbest thing
-
Edited by Mista: 1/13/2016 8:03:26 PMIf you can't beat totems in 3 tries time for a new fire team.
-
Not gonna lie, this sounds really dumb. Why make a cheese for a part that's just running and shooting?
-
I don't understand the need for a cheese at this part of the raid. It doesn't make sense as the normal method gets it done quick enough. It's a simple game of tag.
-
As soon as someone request cheese the totem I will leave immediately.
-
Do totems normal way. Stay alive. Easy. Dont get how some people can even have a discussion over this.

Edited by Liberty WaIk: 1/13/2016 9:05:52 PMI agree with you. However gogolroth IMO is the easiest reward stage in the raid followed by oryx. ;) There is absolutely no reason to do this strat at totems. There is no benefit for doing it that way. Anyone who thinks or says otherwise is delusional. Fact. 👍

What even is the cheese?
-
I have only been a part of the Totem cheese once. It worked the first time they did it; I never even left the middle. I have never had a problem doing it the regular way though, and I don't see how the cheese method honestly saved us much time or effort.
-
We run it normal unless we have problems with the brand not switching. If that happens a couple of time we will cheese it just to get through it. Otherwise it is just as fast or faster to do it regular.
-
I have been saying for a while that doing Totems is an indication of the ability of the raid team. It is a spot where a weak player / non team player can not hide. Each player must do their job.
-
I did it once as the rest of the fireteam wanted to and i just went along with it, its basically the same but its easy enough as it is, if the fireteam cant get through totems -blam!- knows how long the rest of the raid will take.
-
The -blam!- is the cheese? The sword shit?
-
I joined a group of randoms last night and they insisted on doing the totems cheese. I'd heard of it but didn't know the mechanics, they explained it and we did it first try. It was no easier than doing the normal way, but I was ok with it since it shook things up and made it more interesting for me. They were a good group and we completed the raid right to the end. My point is: the totems cheese is no easier, and not really necessary, but if you're looking for some variety in the raid mechanics id say go for it.

Edited by CFUX: 1/13/2016 6:15:25 PMThe biggest problem with totems is it exposes the weakest player or the not a team player. With people I raid with regularly we all have three rules. Throw grenades at the beginning. Never leave your wing man until the boomers are dead. Kill enemies and wizards while holding power. If all these criteria are met we never wipe. However, we will get a random that will not kill the wizards or leave as soon as they have the power before the boomers are dead. When this happens a mistake will always occur.

Yeah it's a waste of time it's literally like the difficulty of patrol. It's just like after golgoroth everyone wants to climb the wall with swords I just want to jump off a cliff
-
Honestly for those of us over 315 you really don't need to cheese anything, my team and myself we just did it the intended way all along, honestly doesn't change the time anything takes and it's more fun that way, the cheeses ruined Crotas end and then when hard mode came out the forums were useless as no one could actually do it, Kings fall has remained a thing the "best" players in pve to grind our asses off, if this cheese becomes a mandatory thing it's just going to make it harder to get groups together that can actually do it, I'm all for teaming up with newer players to show them how to raid but I'm not going to cheese anything. Actually also wanted to bring up that everyone complained how shitty Crotas end was, I felt that the majority of players opinions on that raid was off of the cheese runs, the full legit way where every run runs the lamps and then standing on the plates to fight the ogres then the legit bridge, it's actually fun and was a challenge back then, really was a good raid.
-
I've had a few similar experiences with people that wanted to do the totem cheese...now I take it as a sign that I should leave the group before the inevitable endless wipes during the rest of the raid
-
Snitchy fk Dooooooood thats when u knoowww
-
I heard about the Glyph cheese and watched a youtube video on it. Eventually I came across a fire team that wanted to try it. After a wipe or two adjusting to the new tactics we finished it pretty quickly. I wouldn't say it was significantly easier than the normal strategy, maybe slightly. As long as the people holding the totems can handle the adds and the boomers. Of course it's critical that those staying mid help them out by killing all the adds that spawn up there. It was fun to try as something new and to say I've done it but I don't feel the need to press for it to be the standard strategy.
-
Thats like this one game i hosted with my buddy. We get to totems, and this kid in the game says "why is everyone taking a side? Lets just cheese it. Its soooooo easy". I said "theres actually a much better way to do totems than this cheese method. Do you know of it?" He goes "no?! Theres another BETTER way than this?!" So i say "yeah, its called dont be a little bitch and play the fkn game" He pouted for awhile after this and left at warpriest. Funny thing is, the few wipes we had at totems, it was only him who died. I think he was just really bad at destiny
-
It's easy either way, if all players know what the -blam!- they're doing.
