Tried getting in a full raid before work. I had about two and a half hours, and joined a fireteam that was all 317+. Everyone in the group had a working mic, sounded adult, and acted mature. As we started the raid, there was no talk of who's doing this or are we using that strategy. Always a good sign.
We get to totems with minimum effort and zero setbacks. As we get to the totems, it happens. The fireteam leader asks if we know the totems cheese. Everyone says yes, and agrees its faster and easier. I stay silent, unsure of how to react. I've heard of the cheese before, and know how to do it in concept. Before today, I had the same opinion of this cheese as I did the no-knight strat; if it gets the job done, and without too much hassle, I don't care.
However, after a full hour on totems we had no success. Most of the fireteam at this point agreed we should just do the normal strategy, but the fireteam leader was adamant. He claimed if we did the normal strat, we would wipe more and take longer. Considering he was the one that died EVERY TIME, I had enough. For the first time in months, I rage quit a raid. Never again will I suffer through the totems cheese. If you insist on it, I'm just going to grab the cp and leave. The warpriest will NOT deem you worthy.
Tl;Dr Kings Fall totems cheese is for noobs who can't do the easiest reward stage of the raid.
-
Yes the cheese is for noobs... Your leader was a noob. But the people who know how to actually do it correctly are not noobs.
-
You must have just had that one bad guy my group hits the cheese every week and we haven't wiped there since the cheese came out
-
an hour on totems? i would have rage quit on the second go.
-
There's a cheese for totems? Wow. I guess if your with a group that can't do the totems, it's a good sign to leave.
-
I'm 315 and I can do totems easy
-
What's the cheese? Why cheese it anyway? Totems is hella easy
-
sort of a side note.. but i came across a group that was doing no knights on oryx lmfaooo.. do people still do that shite..!?
-
Bro. Well said. I just can't believe people want to cheese the easiest part of the raid.
-
I had something similar happen last night. Joined a group all between 317-320. I was on my 319 warlock. They literally could not get past a quarter through totems without multiple screw ups and deaths. I saw people with the aura leave, thinking they had the power. I saw people get lost going between mid and their totem. After a wipe I even noticed someone with zero kills. After about the tenth wipe, someone suggested cheese. The group was all for it , "Yeah, let's get this done!" I replied, "This is the easiest part of the raid, we are all over 315 light, there is no legitimate reason why we should cheese this, much less be having any trouble whatsoever." Two quick wipes later I left. I'm sure they all thought I was an a-hole, but dayum..... that was hopeless.
-
I'm glad my fireteam never does that. Normal strat all the way.
-
Cheeses are idiotic. More often than not, convoluted ballets of micro exploits in which the smallest miscue or failure results in a wipe. Just do it normal for gods sake.
-
Thats the easiest part XD
-
Totems chees and no-knights strategy do not make the raid easier IMO.
-
Just goes to show how 317+ really doesn't mean jack shit anymore. I'll suggest the totems cheese for groups who are newer and have issues wiping because it IS A little easier, but damn that dude you played with must have sucked

Edited by ChiknStrips: 1/13/2016 2:57:06 AMI use the "3 Strikes you're out" rule when playing with lfg (unless its oryx, I give them 5 chances). I've became familiar with all the strategies, cheeses, shortcuts, and whatnot. I don't care how we do it as long as it's efficient. To sum it all up - If you are dying or messing up often, I will boot you. If I'm not the leader, I have no problem with taking the checkpoint and starting a new group.
-
I know this exists, but I have no clue how to do it
-
Edited by RagingPheonix00: 1/13/2016 2:15:58 AMI don't even know a cheese for it. is it like gouda. I hate gouda. I prefer swiss or provolone.
-
I hate the totem cheese, regular strat is much faster
-
I leave if my group wipes there even once. If you wipe at totems you're not Oryx ready.
-
The totems cheese is stupid easy, but the totems themselves are also stupid easy. It takes longer to explain the cheese than it does to just do the damn totems the normal way.
-
What's hard with doing it normally? 1 headshot on the boomer by the one with the countdown, other one on the plate killing the mobs and the one in centre kills wizard, knights and thrall. The only 2 reasons it fails is centre don't kill anything or the one on boomer can't snipe for shit.

Edited by Cryptonomicron: 1/13/2016 1:15:49 AMThe guys I play with can do either method consistently without wiping. Swords seems a little easier because there are four in the middle covering adds rather than one or two. Plus, if you do happen to lose the aura, you're right there to pick it up again. No big deal. Do what you like. If it works for you, great. If not, do it normal. But if you are continuously wiping with either method, change the method or change the group.
-
Ah the good old sword cheese. Believe it or not takes the same amount of time and risks as doing it normally. Pointless. Cheeses are like doing the thing on normal. If ppl aren't competent enough tI not die your gonna fail. Same scenario on normal and you will fail.Cheeses don't make the raid or certain sections easy good fireteams do.
-
The cheese is harder than the actual real strat. Why do people bother? The world has gone insane when the cheat is harder than the game. Cheese is the name people use because they hate to be called cheats. I feel for you mate. I had the same problems with crota year one.
-
The cheese isn't easier unless you are carrying an uber low light guy who can sit on the left side totem. Most people don't clear the Wizards fast enough and roll supers making orbs while staying up top

Ran with a 5 man team on Hm, 41 wipes later I kindly excused myself. Haven't completed HM but I wasn't up for more of that.
