2.0 patch notes
Players now are required to participate in the boss fights to be eligible for end-of-activity loot.
YOU DONT GET ANYTHING FROM AFK IN STRIKES

Except you do. Sorry, but regardless of the patch notes, everyone seems to have noticed this as a problem. If you need help testing this, then I'll show you. Also: AFKing the entire strike then shooting the boss a couple times is just as bad as doing nothing at all. Read your own post. Loophole right there.

B.s. i finished my NM warlock bond quest today afking the darkblade. Got the strike exclusive fusion rifle and extoic engram from the strike. 20th telesto... Afking sucks but i do it when the team cant win without me. I hate seeing 100+ kills on my screen while dipshits i revive over and over again the whole struke cant get 30 kills to save their lives. Some of ya'll ain't worth caring about enough to help.
