After.
Ronin walks towards him. "Or we can just get there a different way."
English
-
"Yeah, but we'd get to scout some territory, and I'm sure that they could use a few birds in the air, eh?" Eric crawls into the massive hangar, and slowly clambers into the cockpit of a Vertibird. He looks over at you and says something, yet it comes out indistinct, as a striking thought comes to you. Something Schrader showed you, back in your Venom days, a being known as Matthew Hallwinter. The resemblance was too much for it to be coincidental.
-
Ronin freezes as he looks Eric over again. He did look strikingly similar to Hallwinter.. Son, little brother maybe? "Eric!" Ronin calls, stepping into the hangar.
-
He stops climbing in, and looks at you, "Yeah?"
-
"What's the name Matthew Hallwinter mean to you?"
-
"Hallwinter?..." There's a flicker in his eyes, but nothing more. Still, it's enough to realize that he's lying. "Never heard of him. C'mon, let's go."
-
Ronin walks over and climbs in alongside him, filing a mental note to question him about it later.
-
Edited by Spyglass: 1/10/2016 7:47:48 PM
Sorry, I'm still kinda busy. I'll try replying when I can
The Vertibird began to hover, and with expert ease, Eric got it shooting out of the hanger. It began to hover over the dunes, until the ship's spyglass focused in on the settlement camp a few miles away, and set a marker on the bird's HUD. "So, tell me about yourself. Why were you on the Avalon, all that."
-
"Pilot?" Ronin questions, noticing the ease he manipulates the craft with.
no problem.
-
"I thought that you-... Never mind, I'll go first. Yeah, top of the class, Imperial Academy of Caridia. It's a planet over by the Deep Core, in the Inner Rim. Of course, FN and the Empire being enemies, let's try not to make my past very well known." He shrugs and sets the Vertibird on autopilot, as he starts walking towards the back of the ship, looking for something. "Now it's your turn."
-
"To what, play story time?" his eyes follow him.
-
"Yeah. I can't trust you with my life if I can't trust you to play a game." He begins rummaging through a box, knocking some things onto the floor
-
"Not a lot to say. Grew up on earth, which is where I thought you would have too, but then you would've already known who I am." He walks back to the ship with him. "Had some adventures, spent some time with a PMC, got a wife and two kids, joined America's Delta Force for 15 years, doing hostage rescue and counter terrorism. Now I'm here; kinda jumping around through time and space to find something worth my while."
-
"More than I have to say, certainly. I know that my parents were adopted, but I never knew or heard of my real father. I was an ass as a kid, but I was the most talented ass you'll ever meet, and my parents enlisted me into the Academy for my talents. Didn't want to serve on the front lines, so I decided to be a pilot. Three counts of misconduct, striking a superior officer, disobeying orders..." He pulls a black flash drive out of the box, and then strolls back up to the pilot's seat, "And treason of the third degree. These are some FN propaganda clips, by the looks of them. Hopefully they can tell me something useful about this place." Sure enough, once plugged into the terminal besides the pilot's seat, a hologram is projected onto the space between Eric and Ronin, and people begin talking. "So, you got a woman waiting for you back at camp?"
-
"Sounds like you have a problem with authority." Ronin sits down next to him and leans against the wall. "Yeah, I do. Girlfriend." He said girlfriend, yet a moment ago he spoke of his wife and two kids...
-
Eric looks over at him, and grins, "Savage." He then turns back to the hologram, retelling some ISS history and the likes. "So, the last thing I remember before the crash was running away from the Imperials, trying to get off-system. That must have been at least a few weeks ago, which means that I've been stationed on the Avalon for at least seven days, probably more. Anything I should expect with the crew? Rapists, tough guys... Chicks?"
-
Ronin looks at him. "My wife died 14 years ago Eric. Not that I expect you to know that; but I'm not that guy." He pulls the white and gold sword from its sheathe and begins to clean the blade with a cloth from his pocket. "Ràpists, yeah, one. Names Limbo. Girls, figure that out on your own, tough guys, a lot of them who just deserve a sword where the sun doesn't shine."
-
"Cheery. Can't believe I signed up for this shit..." A gentle beeping wakes him from his thoughts, and Eric puts the Vertibird down in a clearing. "Well, we're here. See you around Ronin."
-
"Eric, who is Hallwinter to you?" Ronin questions again; knowing the first time he lied.
-
Eric turns around and faces you, still walking backwards, "Now that is the million credit question, isn't it?"
-
He sees Ronin vanish and as he walks backwards he bumps into his chest. "Yeah, it is."
-
His hand's on his pistol in a second, but he sighs and relaxes when he realizes that it's Ronin, "Goddammit man, stop doing that! Look, I know that I'm sexy, but you have to stop following me."
-
"Just answer the question dammit."
-
"Look, I don't know who he is, honestly. Hell, I know that he isn't human, but I don't know what he is either. He appears to me sometimes, in my dreams... If they can be called dreams. He speaks to me of planets that I've never heard, battles that I've never read of, and of friends I've never seen." He looks embarrassed, "He looks like me, doesn't he?"
-
Ronin nods. "Very. I've never met him personally, but he was an associate of a former employer of mine."
-
Edited by Spyglass: 1/10/2016 9:53:02 PM"Employer..." Eric thinks, memories clearly coming back to him as he does, "Edward Schrader. You worked for Venom. He mentioned them a few times; said that they had fought alongside each other, but that he'd never worked for a contract. Look, I don't know him, and you don't know him personally, but whatever relationship he had with me is probably unimportant right now. We're stranded on this planet with no way to get us all off, so unless this Hallwinter can find us, and pull a ship large enough to fit us out of his ass, then I don't see the need for talking about him."
