Given that 2 Sith Lords could take out 10,000 Jedi balance would be 5,000 jedi per every sith... in the end there were no Jedi and only Sith Lords... not balanced D:

I was referring to Return of the Jedi. Technically there was one Jedi left with Luke. I don't know about coinciding books though.
