AFKing in STRIKES
Unlocked my quest for the New Monarchy Exotic class item on my Warlock yesterday. Ran my 10 strikes in Heroic and I noticed something. Almost every strike had someone AFK and grab rewards at the end. Some guys were trying to be clever and would scoot forward, shoot, then hide once we engaged the enemy. Heroic strikes aren't ball-busting, but running them with only 2 as opposed to a full team can be painful.
The worst strike I had by far had a guardian named (had to remove name but will post vid tomorrow). If you see him in strikes, just leave. If you see him in crucible, own him. This piece of siht did nothing but tuck himself into corners and shoot only when we were looking. He was completely absent and hiding in a nook in the wall at the boss. Then when the boss died, guess what dropped?
The Imago Loop. For THAT GUY.
I had as many assists as he had kills.(29, I had 139 kills at the end) And he gets the one gun I still haven't managed to get. Bungie, you need to do something to stop people from cruising through strike playlists and reaping the rewards because this is stupid. And it's like this a for almost every strike I join.

1 ReplySome of the coolest friends I've ever made playing this game was from some dude going AFK. Random goes AFK. Me and other random stroll on like "forget that dude, WE GOT THIS!" Next thing you know, you've made a good friend. I get what you're saying, AFKers drive me crazy, but the silver lining is always easier to find when you're looking for it. What can I say? I'm a "glass half-full" kinda guy, I guess.

I was doing the archon priest strike and some one at the locked door showed up and went afk. I reported him after a while. As soon as I got done reporting him he became active and started helping out. Felt bad after that.

Lol i did this last nite and got imago loop but i was getin my wife sumfin 2 eat which took me about 15 mins lol i thought it wud ave been kicked but nah and the imago loop is worthless anyway so dry your eyes and keep grinding :)

I decided that we wouldn't let the guy get rewards for being AFK, so we embarked on a mission to reek havoc with the AFK guy. My friend spammed him with the message "WAKE UP! COOKIES ARE DONE!", whilst I constantly slammed him to walls with my sparrow. We kept on doing this until he returned 15 minutes later and sent us a message saying "OMG stop! why haven't you done the strike yet?!", so I replied with "we were waiting for you so you wouldn't miss out on the action :D". He sent back with "ffs" and promptly left. We had a blast harassing his AFK character so it wasn't a complete waste of our time. Don't be AFK when I'm in your lobby, I will harass your character until you return or leave the lobby :P Edit: Never realised how amusing this was to people. Thanks for the kind replies, I'll let my friend know that our actions are approved of :D

Just invite the person that is doing their part to your fire team, then you both leave, after reporting the AFKer, to do other strikes.

I've been the random to a group of two doing this shit. Played a phogoth weekly during the HoW. Group of two were my allies. Started the strike. I like to rush alot so I dashed forward without caring who I was with, killed the entrance enemies and proceeded to clear the room and here comes the "Open the door part" Didn't take me took long to do that. Maybe 7-8 minutes. I look back, these guys are moving inches if any at all. Just kinda looking at each other yenno. A sigh to myself. So I go take a piss, come back with a pepsi can. No movement beyond a foot or two. Sigh to self number 2. Had half a smoke while watching them, noticing they're moving, just not out of the spawn area. I walk out, jump on a small pillar, stare some more. Sigh number 3 is the straw, as they don't care So I message "Both reported. inactivity. Good day." I get as a reply "[i]F[/i]uck your asshole" The pinnacle of maturity and a positive gaming attitude

If you are at spawn half way through: reported I understand when people take a little longer to start...what with toilet breaks or calls or weapon transfers etc. But halfway point is the limit.

I am so sick of being 1st in the crucible or doing all the work in a strike and not being rewarded for it. (Someone commented below it should be performance based, and OP said some AFK scrub got an imago loop for doing nothing) (Which is where I got this opinion from)

Edited by eldiablo: 1/10/2016 9:39:00 PMi hate afk'ers too but, 29 kills is far from afk and im calling bs on "almost every strike" and the fact is they have made a few changes, the teleport to boss system for people lagging/afk behind and if you afk bosses in strikes you get zero drops plus the old inactive kick. they cant do more. also the fact is strikes are almost pointless for fully raid geared people, they are full of undergeared new players and people that just sit in glitch spots camping

Doing the Undying Mind raid - others left at the start so I solo'ed all the first part, right up to, after climbing the high steps, the 'Kill Three Witches' - and then two team-mates joined. Got right into the final battle arena then had to afk to go and jettison a twelve pound shit. Wasn't away more than a couple of minutes and, when I got back, saw I was RTO'd for 'inactivity'. Crap.

Why carry afk people through strikes? The only reason they continue to do it is because people like you make it easy for them. If someone is afk during a strike, I stop and do nothing else but troll them. Even going to where they are and just sitting down. I normally msg the other guy in the strike to say what I'm doing, etc, to the afk guy. If afk'er doesn't get kicked for inactivity, or leave, then I'll leave. The game scales the difficulty the more guardians in an activity so if there's only two of you playing, but 3 in game, it'll be considerably harder for you. If afk guy leaves, or gets kicked, it'll be easier again.

2 RepliesOP sounds like a Trump supporter with this campaign of hate that is being spewed. People bought the game (some people like myself bought the game, the DLC, and then had to buy the game again because Bungie likes screwing people) and are entitled to play it as they wish.
