Could The Black Garden actually be future Mars?
As you may or may not know, Vex have a great impact on time. Throughout the "story" missions in destiny we see the Vex utilizing time gates. And when we first enter The Black Garden it is the first Time Gate we use, and it takes us to some different dimension, as we all assumed when we first did that. Actually, this "other dimension" is probably the future of Mars. This future is a future where the Vex have taken control of Mars and remade the whole planet into a way they like it. In "The Echo Chamber" strike Ikora Rey states that they think of the way our solar system was made is an imperfection, and must be made anew. So, when you get to the Black Garden, you most likely enter a future where the Vex have rebuilt Mars from scratch. In the story mission, why else would it say "The Black Garden; Meridian Bay, Mars." This is just my theory and let me know what you think about this topic!

Actually the Garden and the Vex appeared in the system before IT or the darkness came. Rasputin mentions a Gardener, Who led the Vex and was lost to IT. The Garden didn't become the Black Garden until IT came and replaced the Gardener with the Black Heart. I think the Garden is within the same timeline but in a different side dimension.

1 ReplyCould the black garden itself be effected by time differently then the rest of mars? Yes it could. But the vex locked off the garden from mars and from time. It didnt exist on mars when the mind was there. Because of that, it could be effected by time and be the future or the past. But it wasnt the entire planet. It was just the garden. Thats why the moment we destroyed the mind, the garden was back on Mars. Also revealing the real route to it during that TTK mission. Thinking about it now, i think its more likely that the black garden is the past. The rest of the planet went forward and build train stations and such on the place the garden used to be. But then again, how does the time flow work for the garden since it was locked out of time by the Gatelord? So much questions and answers just raise more questions. Now my head hurts......

Nice theory, but it doesn't exactly make sense. At the end of the black garden mission you receive word from the speaker to come back to the tower. In another TTK mission you go to the black garden through the tunnels of a subway station.
