If you want to roll, adaptability is your friend. Or you can act like turtle behind a Greatshield.

Edited by Mighty Albatross: 1/5/2016 12:23:37 AMAlso you seem to be interested about twin blades. Individual hits aren't going to be that powerful but they can hit really quickly. However despite being long, most twinblades don't have a very large range. I personally am not a fan however they are really cool and can stun lock a lot of enemies straight to their graves. All weapons are useable and mostly balanced. Honestly just use whatever feels the best.

Don't die.

Best tip I can give you is to upgrade your weapon(s) as soon as you can and then your armor.

Depending on your playstyle/build; always be blocking/dodging/parrying when appropriate. Timing is key, observe enemies and bosses attack patterns, don't get greedy with an opening, if you can attack twice, attack twice, don't squeeze in a third. You can summon other players for tough encounters, some boss fights also have NPC summons to give you some breathing room. Search every nook and cranny, there's lots of hidden items. Look up what weapons boss souls make, if the weapon is not relevant to your character (i.e. A strength weapon on a dex build) consider breaking the soul for extra souls to level up. You can join the Blue Sentinels, Brotherhood of Blood or the Dragon Covenant if you want to focus on PvP, Brotherhood and Dragons are good because there's no cost to engaging in PvP, unlike the Sentinels, which require tokens of fidelity to fight others.

Edited by Cho: 1/4/2016 6:47:00 PMDO NOT GET GREEDY!!!!!! If the boss is on the last sliver of health treat it like it was at normal health. Oh and don't join the covenant of champions Rolling is your best friend and find a weapon you like- my favourite was the Bastard sword
-
Find a weapon you like and stick with it I ran through the whole game with dragon slayers spear 3 times I destroyed everything because I got so good with the weapon or the weapon is just op I don't know
-
For a weapon to be good you need to mess around with the moveset and see if its range, speed and damage are what suit you. then you want to level up your character just enough to be able to use it then focus on vit and end

Take the petrified something for your gift. I won't tell you why, just know it's the best.

Poise doesn't matter at all since everything can stagger you regardless of how much armor you wear. If you're strength build buy the mace and upgrade it, if you're a filthy dex get the rapier and upgrade it. Both of those weapons do disgusting amounts of damage since every enemy has slashing resistance out the ass but not strike or piercing resistance. Try to have fun but take your time and kill everything in the area before moving on. It will help you in the long run. Agility is worth upgrading until you get to 100, then don't bother past that. Don't worry about being human all the time, you can use the soapstone to get summoned and that will revert you to human along with plenty of souls from helping with the boss. I would recommend this if you're nervous about your first fight against a boss and don't want to lose your souls. But most of all. Git Gud.

Use the class that best suits you. I go with a knight/sorcerer build. Most people say that's a waste of points. That's how I like to play. The rings of life/soul protection help if you don't like worrying about losing your souls.
-
Enemies love jumping out of blind spots, be wary of that.
-
If you want the easy route, use sorcery.
