"Not even sure why I still have this." She begins to pull of the metal clasps and headpiece.
-
"Maybe it's because it's a part of you."
-
"Well, I wish it wasn't."

Edited by Will: 1/2/2016 2:26:55 AM"You've got to accept who you are, who you were, and who you will be." He says, turning to face her. "Anumi, let me show you something." He pulls his shirt collar to the side, showing a vertical sword slash on his shoulder, grotesque, almost as if it almost severed his arm from his body. He lifts his shirt to show his muscular and toned chest and stomach/ribs, revealing three identical horizontally sword scars across his chest, stretching all the way across. There is an impalement scar on his pec, a jagged scar on his ribs, claw marks on his stomach, and what look like burn scars attempting to crawl over his ribs from his back, along with many others. "These are all battles I've lost. And I could get rid of them, quite easily. But you know why I dont?" He asks, dropping his shirt.
-
"Cause they don't make you a... Monster." Her words are sour and spiteful. They seem directed at something else.
-
"Anumi... I am a monster in every sense of the word." He says with a half smile. "But it's because they remind me of what I've come from, and how I'm a better person because of them. It doesn't make you a monster Anumi, it makes you a better person."
-
She stands up, her voice rising. "I didn't get a choice! If I could... I would take it back! I was punished for being myself and now... I'm a weapon... Something only to cause destruction..."
-
Lance stands up, wrapping her in a hug, a warm and friendly, protective embrace. "Anumi, if i could take back some of the things I've done, I would too. But I can't, and neither can you. You can't dwell on the past, because it'll rip you from the inside out." Lance grimaces at that statement, considering that's exactly what he was doing earlier. "You've got to live in the present Anumi, not your memories." He says into her ear, his arms around her.
-
She doesn't return the embrace. Her skin feels cold and tense. Her words become spiked. "I wish I could forget... Move on. But my past is already catching up to me. There's no use in trying, not if just comes back around."
-
"What do you mean it's catching up to you?" He asks, looking her in her eyes.
-
"They're coming back. One of them got on aboard... It won't be the last."
-
"Was that what took Lucien?"
-
"No. Lucien was taken by Damien's enemy. Doesn't matter though... We are fighting a losing war."
-
"Yeah..I've been on the wrong side of those too many times." He lets her go, sitting back down on the bed. "Have you talked to Damien about this?"
-
"He knows..." Her eyes seem strained and hurt. "He tries to remind of the good things... But I can't see many, not anymore... His kind words only make me feel worse."
-
Lance lays his hand on top of hers, a reassuring gesture. "There's only one person who can make everything okay in your mind Anumi."
-
"Yes. I'm aware." She frowns, uneased by the contact.
-
"Well, two, but I won't do that." He mumbles, standing up.
-
She shrugs. Her silence says more than just words. Her face has turned stiff and bitter.
-
Damn, I was kinda hoping she'd comment on that.
Lance runs a hand through his hair, conflicting mentally with himself.
-
"I'm going to go train..." She pulls herself off the bed and heads to her bathroom. She re-enters the room a moment later in her standard purple skirt and shirt. Her rifle is strapped to her back.
-
"Do you wanna be alone?"
-
She shrugs again, walking out the door.
-
Lance sighs quietly, silently following.
-
The training hall is virtually empty, except for a red haired woman in a mafia style get-up. She fires her Tommy gun blankly at targets, hitting and missing as she goes. Anumi dials up her own settings to 45/45. It's high and the targets are set for high speed, something a sniper just can't handle in 20 seconds.
