7 RepliesLong before Han started spending time with chewy, he was a sex slave to a notorious gang of female wookies. They stole him as an infant and he had to learn very young how to interpret their language (as well as as to understand when they wanted other things). Once he was old enough to escape he did but he missed the wookies even though they held him as a sex slave.

Han quite obviously speaks Wookie. Interestingly, chew bacca also understands English, but his voice box has not evolved enough to produce the vocals required to speak it. True or false? 12 RepliesChewie most likely understands galactic basic (English), as why he understands Han when he speaks. Han on the other hand probably understands Shyriiwook. (The language of wookies) He could have learned this in tons of ways so I won't go into that. This wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened, an example of this would be the protagonist of KOTOR and Zallbar the wookie who could both understand each other through the protagonists understanding of Shyriiwook and Zallbars understanding of Galactic basic. The protagonist of KOTOR however could speak Shyriiwook and many other alien languages.
