Gunsmith Field Test
"Banshee has teamed up with Lord Shaxx to expand his weapon field testing program. Use various weapons in Crucible zones and test them against other Guardians. Being able to adapt to any gear will serve as a good test for your effectiveness as a Guardian"
MODE PHILOSOPHY
- Reward flexibility in using various weapons in different situations.
- Give players that "new loot" feeling to keep gameplay exciting and addictive.
- Draw combat into objective hotspots, necessitated by the need of more ammo and desire for new weapons.
- Offer a risk/reward proposition - higher rarity guns are better but are less frequent and more highly coveted.
- Intensify combat as time goes on by offering better quality weapons as matches go on.
RULES
More or less played with Clash rules and scoring.
- First team to hit X score wins OR
- Team with highest score at end of match time wins.
HOW IT'S PLAYED
When you play this mode, all of your weapons get "left at the door" so to speak.(All other gear is used) Your weapons still appear in your inventory as equipped, but are not used in the match.
When you spawn in you have no weapons, and scattered throughout the map are several White Loot Crates (including one right in front of your spawn). Going up to one and holding INTERACT will give you and auto-equip a Common-Rarity, Field Test item from Banshee.
After a short period of time, some blue crates will appear randomly throughout the map. Going to one will award you with a random Rare weapon (from any loot pool - generic, vanguard, crucible, etc.)
After a bit longer a few purple crates will appear in random locations. Going to one will award you with a random Legendary weapon (any loot set)
In the middle of the match 3 yellow crates will appear randomly throughout the map. Getting to one will award you a random Exotic weapon.
WEAPON CRATE INFO
Common Crates (White)
- Another player opening a Common Crate does not prevent other players from doing the same
- When you open a Common Crate yourself, a 60 second cooldown is placed on all other Common Crates before you can open up a new one.
Rare Crates (Blue)
- Another player opening a Rare crate depletes it for all other players, but is replenished in 5 seconds
- When you open a Rare Crate yourself, a 2 minute cooldown is placed on all other RareCrates before you can open up a new one.
Legendary Crates (Purple)
- Another player opening a Legendary crate depletes it for all other players, but is replenished in 10 seconds
- When you open a Legendary Crate yourself, a 4 minute cooldown is placed on all other Legendary Crates before you can open up a new one.
Exotic Crates (Yellow)
- Another player opening an Exotic crate depletes it permanently for all other players. These crates are never replenished.
OTHER NOTES
- Weapon Type (Primary, Special, Heavy) is random, but the odds of getting a Primary are higher, followed by Special and Heavy respectively.
- If you get a duplicate in a slot (ie. another primary when you already have a primary) you use the newer primary instead with replenished ammo and discard the old weapon.
- The ammo you get from the crate is all you get for that weapon. You will need to go to another crate to replace your weapon with a new one, and get more ammo that way.
- When you die, you do not lose any ammo for your weapons, but you also do not get any more back.
- Perks on weapons are random, and lets say for arguments sake, are locked (no choice perks are available/changeable)
- On Weapon Pickup, the weapon, as well as the perks in it are listed on your screen, so you don't need to go into a menu to see what you got.
- Weapons can be from any Year, Expansion, or Set, or Loot Table.
- You do not get to permanently keep any of the weapons you picked up in the match
REWARDS
- Both Crucible and Gunsmith reputation would be awarded (varying slightly based on if you Win or Lose)
- "No Match End Loot" would not be an option. Instead if you rolled for nothing for loot, you at least get Weapon Parts instead.
- XP earned in match will apply to your normally equipped weapons per usual, even though they are not used in the match.
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
