"Damn. That sucks. Anyways, I'll bet you're looking for Lucien, right?"

"You are perceptive beyond core mechanics..." Damien tilts his head in his normal fashion. "Do you know where he resides?"
-
"I know where his room is, but he might not be there."
-
"I know he's not on the ship... Caldon must have him..." Damien sighs. "I'll retrieve him later. For now, I want to settle down."
-
"You can have a room on my ship. You know, the big-ass one in the Hangar?"
-
Damien shakes his head. "I'll take my brother's place. It's more associated with my flesh. No offense, dear allocated friend."
-
"Trust me, that's probably the least offensive thing you could've said. It makes sense you want to stay in Lucien's room."
-
"Very well..." Anumi walks over, her hands busied with Damien's mask. She hands it to him and he places it on his face, obscuring his smile. "Your trip her must have been a toll as well. The FN is it? It appears many people from all walks of life have come to reciprocate hope in such a secluded area."
-
"I'm not part of Fireteam November. I was just here to see Sawyer."
-
"Ah. Well, perhaps you got more than you had bartered for, hm?" Damien chuckles. "You emanate with long sealed strength. Have you been training with the finer points of paratude?"
-
"I've picked up a few powers along my travels... Some I rather regret getting."
-
"Ah... I killed myself in order to hide some of my own... Though, I don't enjoy bordering on powerful. I wish I was human... Sometimes."
-
"I wish I could just kill myself and make some of these powers go away... I've killed quadrillions, Damien. Quadrillions."
-
"And? Your story shouldn't be burdened by their pain. In my time with death, I learned two simple truths. You cannot allow yourself to feel pain and you cannot allow yourself to descend into love. I have conquered both. Now, I am beyond my own understanding." Damien's words are cold and wretched, like the truth behind them has tainted his view.
-
"I cannot agree with that, Damien. Pain is essential to survival. If you do not feel pain, when do you realize when you are in trouble? If you cannot love, what is the point in life?"
-
"To each his own. I feel I am a better being because of this." He dusts himself off. He readjusts his mask and gives a quiet sigh. "I still love... I still love you... And Sawyer... My brother... Anumi. Everyone. But I have learned that hating myself has brought me one steps closer to the truth."
-
"Trust me, I hate myself lots. If that's what you meant by not loving, then I think I'm there."
-
"Hm. Perhaps you'll understand with time." Damien shakes his head in solemn quiet.
-
"Damien, you know I don't understand much of anything."
-
"And perhaps that's what makes humanity so damn intriguing."
-
"Probably. I don't really see why you'd hang around with us besides that."
-
"Humanity is, in itself, doomed. But no matter what, you don't give up or just die. It reminds me of myself... In a way."
-
"I wish I could die... Can't anymore. DM tech made me immortal."
-
"Then it happened for a reason... Dearest friend, I see great promise in you." Damien seems to fade from sight, but his voice echoes through Riardriars mind. "It was nice to vocalize with you once more." And like that... It vanishes.
End
