Hello!
So I'm quite pleased at the moment because my gf wants to start a Bloodborne play through. Problem is she isn't really a big game-head like I am and has only played fairly casual FPS and RTS titles. Since I'm very much into the Souls series, I think like a hardcore souls guy and am having trouble thinking like a true beginner. So..
Any advice you think would help her out? She's building toward a Str/Arc build splashing Skl for certain options she might want for later. I would really like to start her with a base build of Axe/Holy Blade/Blunderbuss and work toward a raw STR with elemental infusion as a viable option given the updates.
EDIT 1: Turns out she's some kind of clumsy rain-woman at this game. Exact situation - fighting staff wielding man-beast and misjudged a roll into the sewer bottom. Lands in the midst of 6 rats and the beast jumps down after her. She manages to heal, rolls out and follows up with an axe thrust killing the beast. Finishes all the rats with one charged R2.

Well good luck she's going to need it And get good

A bit late, but: Make her face an Undead Giant (chain variant) and let her figure out how to beat it with 5~ blood vials The attacks of this giant are very telegraphed, so even a new player can pick up on them pretty quickly (this prepares the new player to the concept actually studying their opponent during the fight in order to find a good counter) The chain variant of Undead Giants can prove to be quite difficult to players that do not have good patience and are very unforgiving if the player gets greedy since it only stagger to certain circumsatance (i.e. heavy attacks dont effect it). So it should be a good warm up boss to anyone playing a souls game for the first time

You might want to help her on Shadows of Yharnam. They will be very difficult considering there's 3 at once and she's new to these types of games.

Laugh at her when she dies continuously.

Make her kill every enemy no matter what. Practice is practice. If she loses a few echoes, it doesn't matter, she's not such a high level yet for it to matter. Axe and Blunderbuss. Strength and Vitality. Level up as much as she can. It makes a difference. Let her beg to god a million -blam!-ing times to let her beat the damn blood starved beast. Don't help her on that one.
-
Let her flail against Central Yharnam for a while, help her out once you see how she plays. No sense in leading her down a path she doesn't feel comfortable with.

Arcane? Ew lol but I guess that's what she wants. Tbh just let her get comfortable with the game on her own so she can enjoy it the most. I would like that if I were her :)

Edited by ShingetsuMoon: 12/26/2015 9:37:39 AMOffer your help/advice but don't take over. If she wants to play then just sit back and enjoy the fun/chaos/fury.

Just let her play her way. Don't guide just answer questions.

I didn't play any Souls' game before minus a few hours with Demons and I think I did pretty decent.

Edited by Pheint3d: 12/26/2015 2:24:42 AMLet her fail a few times if she hasn't already. The game becomes so good when you figure certain things out on your own. Other things though, I had to look up myself. Like, I'd have no idea I'd have to minor spoily
wear certain armor to dialogue with certain character. The fail part I meant just from the fighting. Like when you first feel you've gotten a grasp on the game but suddenly realize you neglected an important feature of the combat the entire time which lead to most of your deaths at first.
Give her the controller, get popcorn. Enjoy.
