I'll joke about such things with friends I have played with for a while because I do in fact smoke. However, I still have responsibilities I attend to. I avoid younger players for such reason as I don't like to influence others into a possibly bad situation. Smoking is not for everyone. If you are not responsible you can ruin your life, but it is no ones fault aside from your own. Be responsible and don't make dumb choices. That's all there is to it. And yes, that includes not influencing minors. I am also aware of the side effects and long term damage I may cause to myself.
