What makes a a good PvP player?

So a thing that has been bothering me is that what makes you a good pvp player or valuable asset to your team? I mean what is important? Is it high K/D? Is it scoring points? Sacrificing K/D to support your team? Playing the objective? All of them are important of course but which one is the most valuable? And please try to keep it civil.

  • Depends on what type. For trials it matters how good you are at making plays, such as being able to go 1v3 either by outplaying them or getting the Rezs and making it a 3v3 match again. For other game modes I'd say doing things to help your team stay in control, such as taking the enemy heavy or jumping on a flag to reset it after an enemy had been capping it. Stats aren't necessarily everything in PvP

A k/d ratio more above 1.0, playing the objective, and if control not swapping spawns.

  • Listen here not bragging or anything but I'm just saying I probably have the highest medal score in here. But here are some tips for all of you. Map awareness- know the map, and know the environment. Load Out- use guns you are comfortable with, say another team is sniping an your good with sniper try sniping them also if not rush with shot gun know the map know the corners. Radar awareness- always always watch your radar most important thing in the game, few friends I play with struggle sometimes, I ask them "do you watch your radar" "they say nope" make sure to watch your radar. Patient- be patient, really important nothing better then a patient sniper waiting to f you up. Fast- say you are running shot gun always be fast quick and jumpy, never just sit around. Same with sniper sit around but when you see that head pop them. Well that's about it, that's all I can do, now just do the work. ~NTT Prodigy14 out

    • Brah no matter what play list you play, the one with the most points is the best, you'll never see a 0.01 kd at the top of the team right? But you'll mostly see a 2+kd with most points.... Even if you "play objective", if you can't defend the objective, you suck lol

    • KD determines nothing. Honestly, anybody can be good. Everybody has good games, everybody has bad games.

The ability to adapt and play well in any situation. It also helps if you have fast reflexes

If you see a guy and start shooting him in the back and all of a sudden he spins around throws a grenade at your feet and two shots you, leaving you to yell "WTF!!!" at the top of your lungs... That was a great PvP player...

A true good player tends to play objective, and sacrifice their stats to win it for your team. They also have great situational awareness, which comes with experience. Of course most great players will come out with a positive K.D., but a postive K.D. honestly says nearly nothing when you're talking about objective based gamemodes. In Control, you don't want the tryhard who's gonna go double-positive with a Conspiracy Theory-D and not play objective. You want the objective player with a supportive playstyle that prioritizes capturing flags. In Rift, you don't want the kid who's gonna yell at everyone for not getting the Spark while conpletely evading it and not protecting the runner. You want the experienced Spark runner who knows their pathways and choices. Of course we all need to support these type of rolls. We all need to remember to support this objective based player and escort these Spark runners the opponents' Rift!

        • it depends I'm not a savage or MLG-pro sniper but I am pretty good at running - and I've revised friends I. Trials by running all the way around the map twice because it was 3v1 I'll also sacrifice myself for the team if it denies enemy team heavy ammo or shuts down a powerful super (Bladedancer, Sunbreaker, Sunsinger, Stormcaller, gunslinger) basically anything that's not single target and here's another thing, don't judge yourself by how well you do in control or clash - they are too fast paced and chaotic go into salvage, skirmish, rumble, elimination, 2v2, see if you can win 1v1 fights, if you can - great - if not - then you have some work to do on average I can win most 1v1 fights, but there's always lag, shitty hit detection, or just plain suckage lol

        • Any good PvP player will tell you, know your boundaries and have good situational awareness. Know when to engage and when to run and don't put yourself in gunfights you cant win.

        • Someone who actually knows how to read a situation. No matter what u say, the truth is that strategy > gun skill. Everyone i play with just rushes in to the situation without figuring out what to do

        • Not making dumb combat decisions like blindly charging around corners, being unaware, and failing to maintain proper spacing between you and your enemies.

          • Map awareness, ability to adapt rapidly to the environment and load out they are facing. Patience. And quick reflexes don't hurt either. That or a lag switch and an aimbot.

          • What makes a great PvP from a bad one is the ability to wait for team mates when heavy ammo spawns.

            • It's a complicated question. The things you mention are not mutually exclusive, and good PvP players do them all at least solidly. They don't have to be brilliant at any of them. It's a bit like in tennis - there are key stats like first serve %, returns %, break points won % etc. If you look at the very best players, they don't come top at any single one of them, but they are at least top 20 in them all. If you asked me to pick one, I would say working with your team rather than playing as a lone wolf.

              • Being able to switch comfortably between primary and secondary, playing the objective (which I why my kd is so low - nova bonb and hammer nukes) and being able to be a mobile sniper. What I mean by that is, not hard scoping, but being able to but being able to turn round a snipe a guy who Is bum rushing with a shotgun. And for all the people who think 1000 ys is op it's probably because you either don't have a counter measure or just can't snipe yourself
