Taken King [PHYSICAL] Collector's Edition code not working

I preordered the physical Collector's Edition and then decided not to play... My brother just picked up the Legendary Edition so I thought I would finally load this up. But when I enter the code it says it has already been used. I just peeled the plastic off it today!?! How can it already be used? It doesn't expire until 9.15.17.
