Are you really complaining about the gunslinger subclass? We get no armor buff while using our super. Not to mention those grenades don't always kill someone. I've seen people pass in front of my grenade and somehow it goes off and doesn't kill them.

For the most part, if you're a Titan or Warlock with max armour, a trip mine will leave you with enough health that a light breeze will kill you. That or they didn't get hit by the explosion somehow.
