New Rule for Challenge Mode Runs (YES THIS MAY OFFEND SOME PEOPLE)

I have recently joined a fireteam during the Oryx challenge with an EXCELLENT fireteam system. This system is harsh but proves to be very effective. The fireteam finds 6 gaurdians regardless of light level and items equipped. There is only ONE rule. You -blam!- up your done. Each player was given 2 or 3 chances depending on how the ef up happened. Of course if the ef up was an accident, that player would be given another chance. However, if a player could not execute a job he or she was supposed to execute, and that job could have been executed by any other person on the fireteam,, that ef up would count as a strike to getting their ass booted. The reason why this is so effective is because it gives everyone an incentive to execute their part and pick up their own weight. If one player on a fireteam does not execute, that player is essentially holding back the rest of the fireteam. This system also recycles gaurdians to keep the existing decent gaurdians in, the trash gaurdians out, and new potential good fresh newcombers a chance. Eventually the fireteam would consist of 6 very skilled individuals who will ultimately beat the challenge As said by datto, the raid is meant for hardcore teams with chemistry or the drive to win and for skilled players. It is not meant to be easy and be beaten by just anyone. Similar to trials, people who just want to -blam!- around should have a team with similar mindsets. If one guy wants to get the job done, that guy would most likely try to find players who want to be a little more serious about the matter. I understand that this is a game, but in the end, if you are willing to help another player out then completely disregard this system. You are a very nice person if you decide to help sherpa lower skilled players out. However, if you just want to get the job done, then consider this system. Personally, I am tired of the light level requirements, and the weapon requirements. I do not have ToM so you can imagine how many groups booted me from their firemteams. With this system emplaced, I have a chance regardless of wearing a quick res helm and a hand cannon for hard mode challenge oryx. This system may seem cold, but it makes sense. No one wants to be playing on Oryx for more than 3 hours. As I previously stated, I found a group with this system. They saw my gear but decided to just give me a chance. However, since I didn't -blam!- up at all, I wasn't kicked. Within 2 or 3 try's we managed to beat Oryx challenge mode and get the rewards. edit: I do not play very often, I do not grind TF out of this game as some people do ,because sometimes it's just too much and I see no worth in investing so much of my time for something that's boring. (ToM quest is not fun... waiting a day for a charge, is a vibe killer, waiting a week for antiquated boss is also annoying) And, this is coming from a casual, a normal guy who has and can beat the oryx challenge mode in relatively less time because of the players I choose to play with. edit 2: The truth is, I don't want to be spending a lot of time on destiny. Destiny is fun, but if you play it too much, it gets overly repetitive and ultimately frustrating. If I am not doing any good for the raid, I would voluntarily back out so that I do not waste anyone's time. That is the purpose of this system... It's not as simple as just boot the guy, as some people are assuming... Step 1: Run a few attempts to get a feel for Oryx CM Step 2: Beat It If the raid group cannot beat it look for the issue and try to fix it. As a last resort if you told a person to do a job, switch that players job with another player. If that same player is still messing up, at that point I would call for the boot, and find a replacement. If someone isn't doing their job, that player is essentially getting carried. If you are okay with carrying others, you are a saint. On the other hand, if you want to just beat it, It would be easier if you found people who can do their job! The raid is a co-op and a heavily team based game mode. If the fireTEAM does not play like a TEAM the run won't make as much efficient progress. The guys doing the most work will eventually tire out and start screwing up themselves.

  • The problem with this process is it negatively hurts the community and limits new entry, thus shortening the games lifespan (people play less or they play less with you). As an anecdote: you can only go to college of you have a ph.d., only lawyers should go to lawschool, only being hired for experience on your first job. This system also sounds very biased. "Well he is my friend so give him an extra 3 tries." And if it is not the case, you weaken that relation further and no one will offer their time next time. I see this argument more than i should: "all my friends already did their raids so i can't do mine." Or "everyone is either busy or isn't joining." Take those extra tries to see whats wrong with a team or individual, and then fix the problem. Either help them or teach them a better way to execute. Just yesterday i was told about someone who thought running into the teleporter is how you get teleported. And plenty of times, my first try raid groups have those off days where the smallest, none related things keep happening. You say the stress and strictness motivates, but what if those people were kicked because their anxiety of being kicked made them anxious, and then depressed, and then reinforced because of this imposed self-fulfilling prophecy? What if next time you have an off day on your free day and never get to attempt the raid that week or month again? Compassion goes a long way my friend. Farther than this one particular raid.
