Chapter 3: Fear
Since the ketch was in space it was hard to determine between night and day. Really it was if you slept or not. Noises of soldiers and machinery echoes through the walls, creating discomfort for just about everyone. Aerile, being much older now, (but still the size of an infant,) was often left alone. She would go weeks without talking or sleeping.
Aer was gazing at the stars, her hair had grown longer than her own body and she often tripped on it. Staring out the window, a planet of an odd familiarity came into view. She tilted her head and gazed, wondering, upon the heart shaped pattern seemingly etched upon the very surface of the rocky planet she beholds. “What is that? Where is that?”
She put her hand up to the glass, her eyes sparkling. She stared at the planet and twitched as seven lights glowed on the surface, her eyes widened. “Home”She whispered, holding her hand over the planet, her ears vibrating gently.
She fell back gently and beheld the planet, she remembered it’s name, Pluto, she wasn’t all to sure why it was familiar, why she felt like it was her home.
Tenvorock entered the room. He had been promoted to Archon through these seemingly endless years, and with the added height difference he towered over Aerile. His new promotion didn’t allow him to spend a lot of time with his daughter. The fact he even stepped into the room was a surprise to Aer. Tenvorock looked up at Aer on the windowsill. “Come child, I have something special for you.” He reached his large hand out and Aer hopped onto it, he pulled her to his chest and stomped out of the room. He carried her to the back of the Ketch and set her on the ground. A kind looking vandal picked her up and placed her inside a cushioned pod, wires and massive cords, surging with arc energies.THe arc flowed from the back of the pod, twisting in every direction. Fallen rushed about and worked on the pod. Aer looked at the situation, a bit nervous. She laid back on the cushions and the door to the pod squeaked shut. It was fairly quiet in the pod but extremely uncomfortable. She felt like she was inside the jaws of some massive beast. A sort of mask covered her mouth and a sweet tasting gas was flowing through it. So sweet in fact, she couldn’t resist breathing it.
Just then six metal clamps grabbed all of her limbs, She yelped and her heart began to race. Her breathing sped and she pulled at the clamps. She looked around the pod, and there had to be at least a hundred needles full of bright cyan or dark blue fluids aligned around her body. Her eyes contracted to slits at the sight of the sharp points, readying themselves. She whimpered and a red light strobed in time with a beep every few seconds. She held her breath, the beep held for a few seconds and then a hailstorm of shots zipped down and jabbed into Aer, her blood sputtering in short spouts. She shrieked and fell limp, her vision fading into a murky abyss.
