So bored. So bored. Soooooo bored.
How long has he been lying here? At least 5 hours. This Dreg better get here soon. He was losing patience and fast.
"-sigh- I'm no Hunter. Why was I pinned with this job? I'm too old for this. My joints will ache."
"You've never had arthritis. You're not that old."
"You don't know! I'm over 200!"
"True, but your body is aged at 37."
"That's old enough."
"We're not having this conversation. You have work to do."
And his Ghost was right. There he was. Raxis the Disavowed. Somewhat infamous. Closer to the Darkness than most Elinski. Definitely over the whole House of Kings.
Were they sailing here? Maybe. That would be wonderful if he could have a good chat with old friends.
No time for memories, Jonathan just kill the Dreg, steal his cargo, and bribe the Wolves.
Ahhhh the Wolves. They really hated him. After a team of Tower Guardians took out their representatives to the Cosmodrome's Kings, they tried the Rockies Kings.
John wouldn't have it. He talked the Kings out of Skolas' master plan. The Wolves incited the Devils. They struck down the Kings. After Rasputin's doomsday weapon went off, John went off grid.
The only Kings left that he was friends with were the Atlantians. A powerful group that controlled most of Earth's oceans.
He was getting sidetracked. The Dreg was nearly in position. He charged his palm with lightning.
Aim for the engine. Take out his mobility. Then-
The Dreg's head exploded. The ether spewed out like it was from a spigot.
John climbed out his hiding place and investigated the body. The pike was nearby and undamaged.
"Appears to have come from 58 degrees Northeast"
"Thanks"
John scanned the area and saw a glint.
Great. Probably from the Tower. Obviously the Dreg was his target. But no one was above cashing a bounty. Especially on him.
John decided to take the risky path considering he was already exposed. See what this one was planning.
He waved the sniper. Hopefully he had a semblance of a parley.

"Well, I'd say that's another job well done... Wait, what's that?" Korvic put the scope of his rifle up to his helmet, noting the figure moving up to the body of the dreg. The figure waved at him. "Well... Whoever they are, they seem to be friendly." "Master Korvic, I wouldn't advise rushing out in to the open to greet a stranger. Remember what happened last time?" "Hey, we both agreed that we would never speak of that again. Besides, if this guy wanted me dead, I would've seen it coming." He dropped down from the steel beam, landing on his feet, and made his way towards the stranger.

"Is this the wisest course of action? You have no idea who this guy is" "Odds are he's friendly. Otherwise he would have shot at me from there" "Still though. It's possible he didn't recognize you through the scope" "Even he means ill intent, have I lost a fight in the last... 30 years?" "Isn't one of your sayings "there's always someone better"?" "Yeah, but I've yet to meet someone who truly outclassed me" "I give up. Don't blame me for not warning you" By the time John and his Ghost were done bickering, the Hunter was close enough to see most of what he needed. "Afternoon! That was a fine shot earlier. Worthy of a Hunter. May I ask why you decided this Dreg deserved such a fate?" He probably already knew the answer but you could tell a lot about someone from how they talked. It would give John a general idea of what type of man he is. Or woman.

Korvic grinned behind his helmet as he rested his foot against the crashed pike. "Well, if I'm being honest, I wasn't too keen on shooting up the poor guy. Kinda feel sorry for 'em, almost. He was just doing his job, and I was doing mine."
