The next morning, Edward walked into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water. He looked out the window to the City. Shuttles flew to and fro, the Traveler loomed somberly, and the eight O' clock sun emerged from the cloud cover just to blind Edward. He raised his left arm over his eyes. Next, he sat on the couch and checked the morning news. Edward took a sip of water, but immediately spit it back out when it occurred to him what time it was! "S***! The Vanguard won't be pleased with us!" He ran into the bedroom and picked out a navy blue T-shirt with a pocket, a pair of faded jeans, and a pair of boots. All this commotion woke Gale. She sat up, pulling the sheets to her neck. "What's the matter dear?" "We're going to be late for the Vanguard bounties!" "Ed, there is no time limit for those..." Gale was ticked off that Edward woke her for that. "Well, if we want a gold sticker from Cayde, we need to get the good ones: taking out major threats, scouting missions, those." Gale flopped back down. Both guardians got ready, willed their armor on, and exited into the hallway. Edward repeatedly slapped Haxx's door. "Get up! Get up! Get up! We're going to be late!" After three minutes, Haxx and his ghost, P.C. opened the door. "Yes?" "Get your armor, we got to go. We're going to be late." repeated Edward. "Okay. I'll be out in one second..." Haxx closed the door. Edward pulled out his knife, about to sharpen it when the door opened again. "That was quick..." Haxx was in his full battle gear, white and blue armor with the Vanguard's latest mark. "I said one second, didn't I?" Edward looked to Gale, then back to Haxx. "Yes, yes you did." Gale ran to her apartment. "I got to get Drake!" "Right.... I guess I could get Kelly..." Edward walked back to his apartment. "Kelly!! Come on, Kelly!!" Kelly slowly flew out of the guest bedroom. "You're not mad about last night?" "Oh, yes I am mad!" Kelly's shell drooped a bit. "But you wanted adventure don't you?" asked Edward. Kelly looked back up, her shell perked up as well. "Yes!" "Let's go, then." They met up with everyone else and headed for the Tower courtyard to talk to Xander 99-40. "Hello, Xander. Got any good bounties left for us?" asked Edward. Xander gave Edward a holo-tablet. "Let's see... hmm. See anything you like?" he asked looking to Gale and Haxx. "I like Kell's Hand." said Haxx tapping the screen. "Venus Reconnaissance?" asked Gale looking to Edward. "Alright." Edward handed back the tablet. "Kell's Hand, Venus Reconnaissance, Eliksni Hunting, and House Breaking." Xander gave each guardian a copy of the four bounties and sent them off. After the short flight, the three guardians reached Venus. The peaceful planet grew as they approached it. "Ahh. Just think, we graduated from here two days ago." Edward gazed at Venus. "... It was yesterday..." said Gale disappointed. "Was it?" asked Edward. "Exactly 29 hours ago." said Haxx. "Thanks, Haxx." Edward said sarcastically. The team landed on Venus and grabbed their gear. "What to do first?" asked Haxx. "The Ember Caves are great for killing Fallen..." said Edward pointing down the left path. "Sounds good to me." said Gale pulling out her rifle. The team jumped onto their sparrows. They raced to the Ember Caves, kicking up a dust storm in their trail. When they passed through a short tunnel, the team entered a large basin with two Winter skiffs hovering over. Edward, Gale, and Haxx leapt from their sparrows and raised their weapons! Jump pads were lowered from the skiffs, twenty vandals and a captain jumped down. The Fallen stood back up and looked to the Guardians. The vandals raised shock rifles, but didn't shoot. The captain stood up and drew two swords. With one of its two free hands, it beat its chest and howled at the Guardians! "01000010 01110010 01100001 01111000 01101001 01110011" C.P. translated the Fallen language into binary for Haxx. "He says his name Braxis, Winter Baron." said Haxx looking to the others. "Alright. I guess we can introduce ourselves." said Edward lowering his weapon. "Translate this C.P. My name is Edward Hayes, this is Gale Burke, and this is Haxx-56." C.P. translated it back into Eliksni, but the baron was enraged! "C.P. what did you say?! What did you say C.P.?!" shouted Edward as he waved his scout rifle from Fallen to Fallen. "C.P. says he told him exactly what you wanted. Apparently the word 'Hayes' is vulgar in Eliksni." said Haxx. "Great! My name is offensive to aliens..." Edward almost dropped his weapon in disappointment. Gale raised her Monte Carlo, shot four vandals, and stabbed two more with the bayonet. Haxx was having a whale of a time punching several vandals. Edward shot other vandals! One vandal was about to hit Edward with the stock of its rifle, but Edward drew his and stabbed the vandal's jaw! The vandal raised its hands to its mouth, but the knife had severed the ether supply, killing the vandal only seconds later. Two more skiffs dropped off more Fallen! Susan lowered her weapon and meditated, clouds formed over her head. Braxis saw this and took a few steps back. Gale burst with electricity and zapped the entire second wave of Fallen. A bolt of lightning struck Braxis draining it's shields. Braxis placed its hand over the burn mark under its left arm. Braxis tried to retreat back to the cave that led to the Winter's Lair. Braxis called for a squad of pikes! Twelve pikes surrounded them, constantly spinning around them. Haxx watched the pikes move around, noticing the arc energy stored in them. He calculated something in his exo mind. "I got a plan, C.P." Haxx's ghost spoke in binary and shook his head with disappointment. "What do you got?" asked Gale, sitting down after being struck by electricity. Haxx looked Edward and Gale, and gave a new, sly smile. "Whoa! What is that? D'you just smile?" asked Edward surprised. The pikes continued to circle around the Guardians, shooting at them. Haxx waited for two pikes to get in the perfect spot and punched the ground as hard as he could! The shockwave sent every pike into the air, electrifying them! Two pikes became electro magnetic bomb! Both pikes were pulled into skiffs, then exploded! One skiff flew around and flew towards the Winter's Lair cave! Braxis wasn't going to make it into the cave, the Baron jumped over the rails! "Okay, that was cool!" exclaimed Edward as he watched the events unfold. "Thank you." said Haxx. Braxis crawled around for the shock blades. After collecting the swords, the Baron got in a fighting stance and pointed to Edward. "Alright, Baron." Edward pulled out his knife and infused it with arc energy! Edward ran towards the Baron, the Baron swung both swords at Edward but Edward blinked behind the Baron! Edward made a gash in the Baron's back armor. The Baron clenched in pain! It spun around and swung for Edward's head! Edward ducked, almost too late! The Baron swung again, this time going for Edward's legs! Edward jumped over the swords then upper cutted the Baron! Edward's knife cut the Baron's far left eye! In an act of rage, the Baron slapped Edward, sending him flying! Braxis limped over to a slightly damaged pike. The Baron powered it up and drove off. Braxis' voice grew quiet as the Fallen drove off. "Well, we wasted our resources, our endurance, Light, and most of the day and we haven't even got to finish our main bounties." said Edward as he got back up and walked over to his friends. "No, no we didn't." said Haxx holding up a holo-tablet. "I punched my enemies, we killed Fallen, and technically we defeated an ultra." "Oh really? Well, we can go home then." said Edward as he read the holo-tablet. The team got back on their sparrows and drove back to their ships. They flew back to the Tower. When they returned, Edward turned in the bounties. After that, everyone went their own way, doing their own thing.
