Nerf Snipers ? Nerf Shotties ? How about we address the real problem..... Special ammo !!!
Secondaries wouldn't be such a problem if the cut back on the special ammo spawns we all know that secondary weapons are way overused and the is just due to the fact that we have to much ammo for them I say force people to use their primaries more and the specials more sparingly if these skilled snipers and shotgunners only had 6 bullets a match how well do you think they would fair ?
Open for discussion this is just my thoughts !
EDIT: It seems like it would be very interesting to see how the game would change if you didn't spawn with ammo and I could see it having a massive impact on trials unsure about the 6v6s just because of the amount of clean up kills

You didn't play year one did you because then you would know that this is a huge improvement in special ammo you could go the whole crucible match without switching to your primary and running out of ammo

https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/177376335/0/0
For me, I don't see shotguns, snipers, or any special as over powered, I see them as over used. A long while back we faced an issue, people were using their specials far more than their primaries. With a following patch they fixed it to ensure that primaries would be used more... or did they?
Bungie Weekly Update - 04/09/2015 https://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---04092015/en/News/News?aid=12753 This update mentioned some things about special ammo and their goals for it.
Kevin: At the highest level, we had a few goals in mind: Make Special ammo a more precious resource in Crucible Further solidify Heavy ammo's role in the Crucible Further improve the balance of encounters by limiting high-damage weapons
or
Or, as Mr. Fruit put it earlier this week: Shotgun violence runs rampant in the Crucible. Can you ease his mind with some details? Kevin: The recent update to sandbox balance was the first step. Creating a new system to manage ammo drops will enable us to adjust the Crucible experience without altering other activities in your Director. We believe that making ammo more scarce and important will provide players with more choices and more memorable encounters in Crucible.
and then there is:
Kevin: Special Ammo will spawn less frequently, it will take longer to pick up, there will be less crates located on the map, and the bricks you find will provide you with less ammo. I’ll save the stats and gory details for the Patch Notes. [Editor’s Note: Coming very soon to a blog article near you!] We wanted players to really think about how and when they should use their ammo. The hope is that you’ll ask yourself questions like: "Is this snipe worth it right now?" "Should I really shotgun rush these players?" "Should I conserve ammo until the next crate?”

Yet with the idea of making special ammo more precious we still see people using only the special ammo still.
"Is this snipe worth it right now?"
You don't ask yourself this because you're running around with at least 8 shots and the next ammo drop will be in 23 seconds to give you 4-5 more shots.
"Should I really shotgun rush these players?"
Well, seeing as I can carry at least 16 shots with my shotgun, this is never a question. People can claim that others are just scrubs by shotgun rushing, or pussies by camping with a sniper. But what if that shotgunner had only 2 shot available to him? He would have had to wait for the right time to use it to get 2 kills. Or the sniper had only 1 shot left? He would have needed the right angle and right opportunity to make that shot worth it. Using a special weapon for a special situation. Yet we are given so much special ammo it is not that precious, even skilled people can stack up on ammo to a large capacity of shots. By using a certain weapon so much an impression is made, then claimed to be over powered when it is not, it is over used. This won't stop the shotgun nerf though, that boat has already sailed. But even with them being nerfed they will still be used to large extents because of the availability given to them through special ammo pickups. If a nerf would come to special ammo, I would advise not reducing the amount of ammo special weapons can carry, but how much they can pick up in crucible. Instead of giving 6 shotgun shots, or 5 sniper shots, give 2. It will not effect the performance of the weapon, but it will effect the availability and use of it. PvE players would be happy too with a nerf that doesn't effect them. That is my input, call me what you want, scrub, baby, idiot, I don't care. This has been the one and only main issue I see in crucible, and you can disagree with me if you want.
Change special ammo so its more like inferno, no one has special ammo at the start of the match and fewer spawns. then you have to plan your special ammo usage.

DO NOT CUT SPECIAL AMMO AGAIN

Edited by Erijian: 12/13/2015 12:14:58 AMSniper Rifles should hold/get the least amount of Special Ammo out of all of them tbh.

Sidearm master race... I finally got the god roll.. And let me tell you this tale from today... Exodus Blue, Earth. Freshly killed by this stormcaller and respawned near the outside heavy on the open area. Run down towards heavy.. "Heavy Ammo Inbound" -OHshit.JPG Radar lights up... As I turn around and see 2 enemies approaching from both sides of the stairs, 4 in total. I look left and switch to my faithful Jabber Hakke and say "Shall we?" Gun down a Hunter and reload.. Reactive reload kicks in and I gun down the oncoming Titan faster than six g-horns to crota. Turn around and see a warlock with a shotgun rushing, immediately he is dead by just seeing my OP roll (Shot him) *Hear that clang of a Titan* *knees spaghetti* *reloads* Rush's him and jumps over the hammer and turn and Guns him down before he had another hammer. "Heavy ammo Available" Wot TL;DR Sidearms OP

Edited by F GGY TIME: 12/12/2015 9:13:43 PMsolving one issue only leads to another, the next thing to happen will be "nerf sidearms" They hold so much more ammo then snipers or shotguns, if special ammo was to be nerf'd and not as available in pvp this is what happens, players will evolve to using sidarms due to ammo capacity in turn players will become very good with them, which will then lead to people getting rekt by them, which then leads to people crying for nerfs on sidearms lol

No special ammo on game start, crates available however. They're on a 3 minute cool down, and the person who picks it up + closest two others get it, but the others have 15 seconds or it disappears.
-
I agree the real problem was how much ammo they gave u upon spawn
-
Seriously though they wouldn't have had to nerf shotguns after 2.0 or any other secondary for that matter if they just fixed the god damned special ammo.
-
All you really need is to stop spawning with special ammo, that would make crucible a bit more interesting
-
How about people stop being fgts & let other people use what they want. This nerf shit keeps on going and I will stick with halo 5. Factz
-
Either spawn with no special ammo. ..or have a special ammo round like heavy. Make people actually rely on primaries!
-
It all depends on range. Long sight line = snipers. Cqb are just that. Close range shotgun is perfect for that engagement. Hallways and places where players crouch is shotgun territory. Too many people jump into battles knowing the distance for their gun but underestimating that their opponents know their gun as well as their opponents.

I'm well aware that invective regens ammo but I hardly see it been used compared to others
