Is it?

These kids act like this money goes straight into the CEO's wallet. They haven't a clue how a business works. Is gaming headed this direction? Yeah, probably, eventually. At least the big titles. Is it anything new? Not even remotely. "Free to play" games have used this business model for a looooong time. Is it a problem? That depends on a lot of things. What are the items available? Is it pay to win? What is the money being used for? What type of game is it? Here's the long and short of it: Destiny is a perpetual MMOFPS with RPG elements. The micro transactions being offered are cosmetic only, reasonably priced, and of fair quality. The money gained from these sales is being used to maintain the current state of the game, and periodically provide special events for players to enjoy. There is nothing to make a player feel pressured into paying for the items. So no, in this instance, there's nothing wrong with spending your money on something you want. This is a fact all you children decrying those who would purchase said content should try to get through your dense skulls.
