This again? It wasn't even said in the same context. Good lord get over it, using the same exact 3-4 weapons every single time was stupid. There was literally zero reason to ever use an exotic besides gally or ice breaker (PvE, that is) Like, ever.

If you thought using the same 3-4 weapons every time was stupid, you could swap them out and use anything you wanted at any time. If others enjoyed using those weapons and didn't want to stop they were free to keep using them. Now there is no choice, people were forced to stop playing the game the way they wanted - not due to new gear being more fun or effective, but purely because Bungie said so. It's a shitty, lazy, arrogant way of progressing the game and you clowns defending less choice in Destiny deserve the end result.

Progression like this is not unique to Destiny. Happens in true MMO's all the time, they are just emulating that aspect. More importantly the devs decided based on whatever metrics they used (and new non-bullet sponge boss design) that those weapons were OP and had to be left behind. I get that people are salty because they have to actually put out some effort and not just burn everything down instantly with 3 gallys or camp for an hour behind a stairwell with an ice breaker, but get over it already. Your win button is gone, deal with it.

Fatebringer was never a crutch for me, I did not need to use it at all, ever. But I did because it was fun, I liked the gun. A lot more so than any current raid gun, regardless of effectiveness, and I'm certain I'm not alone in that. Sunbreakers are op too. Should they relegate that subclass to irrelevance and sacrifice the amount of options we have? Nope, they should nerf it appropriately and leave it there for people to use, for the sake of variety. If any Year 1 weapons genuinely are too powerful then nerf them, bring them in line with everything else, but bring them back to relevant light levels. Nobody wins when half the content on the game is pointless, particularly within a game so sparse on content to begin with (an issue other mmo's don't have).

Edited by bobswerski: 12/4/2015 5:17:34 PMThat's all reasonable. And a number of Y1 exotics are coming back next week, with more to come later, so it's happening, just more slowly than most people are willing to accept. Edit(x2): The Qullims is great, and the raid pulse with firefly was pretty damn fun... before I drunkenly infused it into my Red Death during IB by mistake, that is. (tequila gets you every time)
-
Tequila doesn't turn an MG into a primary weapon though...
-
Depends on how much you drink, lol. No, I mistakenly infused the raid pulse rifle, I guess I sorta said it backwards. Will edit.

I'd rather have a few overpowered exotics than a bunch of crappy ones that is no different than legendary weapons. Those OP exotics were fun to use in PvE. Now there's almost no exotics worth grinding for.

Edited by turbtators: 12/4/2015 11:52:36 AMSo instead of asking them to make better weapons we get a dumbed down version of y2. Thanks alot dbag.
-
Classy. Who said not to make better weapons? I just said different.
-
You said it. You were incapable of using more than 3-4 weapons. so instead of keeping those weapons in the game you wanted bungie to force you to use new weapons at a lower standard.
-
I used plenty of other weapons precisely because it was boring. And I still never said I wanted weapons at a lower standard so read a little more carefully next time. Good lord, it's like banging your head against the wall sometimes...
-
You specifically stated that you only used 3-4 weapons every single time. I obviously read your post very carefully since I understand it better than you seem to do.
-
I didn't specifically say anything about myself. Show me where it says "I personally never used anything else"
-
Edited by turbtators: 12/4/2015 5:32:49 PMYou are correct. Edit: I'm correct. You said "Good lord get over it, using the same exact 3-4 weapons every single time was stupid."
-
why is it stupid? is it stupid because the player base stuck to the most effective weapons or is it stupid because Bungie failed to offer viable alternatives to those weapons?
-
Edited by bobswerski: 12/4/2015 1:16:13 PMBoth, I suppose. Either way a refresh was long overdue. (edit: And this quote people like the OP keep vomiting out has nothing to do with that anyway)
-
And it's exactly the same now due to piss poor yr2 weapons. I only run the Raids each week but even before then weapons never changed and I think I've used the same weapons pretty much the whole time since I hit 40. Primary - Hung Jury / Malice for Daughters & Oryx Secondary - Spindle / 1000 Yard Stare when using Malice Heavy - Raid MG or Sword. The variation now is worse than last year. Least shottys were a viable option for PvE.
-
Edited by bobswerski: 12/4/2015 1:10:26 PMIf all you do is the raid, it's hardly surprising you would use a narrow range of weapons. Malice is pretty useless outside the raid. I do agree about shottys, they've been nerfed too hard in PvE but they were pretty OP after the buff, TBH. I had a full auto/field scout/litc void Hide n Seek that made even the VoG Praetorians hide in the corner and cry. When HoW dropped I re-rolled the replacement Dead Orbit shotty (can't remember the new name) to be nearly identical in the other elements. It was basically the same gun, just reskinned, btw, so it's not like the diversity in Y1 was infinite. As for the new exotics: Swords are really really good, funny how everyone just kinda forgets they are new and awesome alternatives to the gally and just want to be salty. Telesto is great, and Zhalo is almost a better thunderlord. Tlaloc is amazeballs. All the crazy people who spent weeks theorycrafting about the Sleeper quest are just nerdhurt about wasting their time and disregard how much damage it can really do (tho the timegating thing I can understand being upset about). Hereafter has some potential but is overshadowed by the spindle and 1K. Last I checked Hawkmoon and Red Death still work, and NTTE and Jade Rabbit are highly underrated because the vendor Hung Jury is so good. (IMO, those 2 vendor weapons being so great (1K and hung jury) is more responsible for people not liking the new exotics than the exotics themselves.) TL;DR: The new exotics might not be ballerhorns but people are too salty to realize how good they actually are.
-
That's the exact same loadout I use.
-
I'm basically the same for the raid. Grasp / Malice for Daughters and onwards Spindle / 1000 Yard when using Malice Raid MG for the entire thing As for typical day-to-day destiny stuff (when I was playing it day-to-day), I never switched out from Grasp (as it's the only year 2 Pulse Rifle of that archetype) I switched around with the sniper a bit. I enjoy the Hakke one I got from the gunsmith. Then it's either Raid MG or exotic sword, depends what I'm doing. Just not much variation at all. Year 1 was much more enjoyable

Edited by bobswerski: 12/4/2015 1:13:29 PMHow is that different than always using: Fatebringer/VoC Ice Breaker/shotty Gjallarhorn/Gjallarhorn/Gjallarhorn/Gjallarhorn ?
