Bungie knows what they are doing. How are they going to compete right now with brand new games. Once the time passes new content/dlc will drop and people bored with those games will come back. They arent trying to compete with another Activision game and this has been speculation from the beginning. I believe bungie has even stated "its ok to go play other games" and they know other fun stuff is out there. Think they even said something alomg the lines of "destiny will ge here when you come back". Its smart to not release a bunch of new updates atm. Yes it sux though
