What is the best SET of armor? Not power armor, just normal armor. Is there a quest that gives a full set of either really cool looking armor or armor with really good stats? If so please provide the name of the set.

  • If you're talking solely about damage resistence, then fully upgraded heavy synth armor plus Mk5 ballistic weave hat and clothing under it would be your best bet. Personally I'm using a heavy leather chest piece, freefall boots, chameleon combat armor left arm and a heavy combat armor right arm, all shadowed, plus a ballistic weave military fatigues and trilby hat. Looking for a better set of arms currently but it isn't hideous to look at.

  • Full set of legendary Sentinel armor pieces. Extremely difficult to get all pieces, but grants 15% damage reduction per piece when standing still. I only have 4 on my main character and the damage reduction is better than a maxed set of X-01 power armor (survival difficulty). I've tanked legendary Deathclaws standing still, although they knock you back a few yards. You can even survive the insta-kill turrets quite a bit. They can 1-shot you straight through Mk. VI X-01 power armor with max energy resistance, but it takes 4-6 shots to kill me with just a set of 4 (and their accuracy sucks, fortunately). I've also found some Sentinel melee weapons, which I didn't think was possible since a full set of Sentinel armor would give 90% damage reduction. If it still stacks, that's practical invincibility when standing still.

  • Best defense is a set of casual clothing and a hat with level 5 ballistic weave. No joke.

  • Well there are good pieces of legendary armor in vendor inventories. If you go to the institute you can get a good helmet and chest piece and helmet. Also if you go to vault 81 you will find good arm pieces.

  • I already have that stuff. I have good armor but I want to look cool because right now I'm a walking tank that looks like some retard with rusty metal armor.

The best full set of armor, not outfit, is heavy fully upgraded Synth armor.

  • I have two bolstering (increase defenses up 35+) on my chest and arm synth pieces. Martyrs (time slows at 20% hp) other arm. Then stay boosting rest synth set. Pretty high Courser armor with ballistic weave I believe is pretty high too

  • It's not the best, and wearing an outfit isn't the best way to gain max resistance.

  • It also weighs about 50 lbs, so if you're a stealth character, this is NOT the way to go.

  • Depends, I have 3 assassin pairs that are excellent, 2 destroyer pairs, a mantis piece, it just all comes down to the perk.
