What needs more skill in PVP!? Sniper or Shotgun?
Just curious to see what majority of the forum users believe takes more skill. I am not talking about any other game, so please don't compare to anything else (BO3, Halo, etc)
Feel free to express your opinion why sniping/shotgun take more skill.
Happy trials folks!
**Btw if yall could bump or like the post so more people get to see it* would be greatly appreciated!**
snipers all day
Edit: Thanks for everyone's input! As many have said it really takes no skill for either weapon if your are just camping a lane/door**

Sniper takes more skill to me. But shotgun still takes skill to use. Heck I can't even use a shotgun after sniping for a while!
-
Neither takes skill. With shotguns, you just have to get within 10 meters of them then pull the trigger and you get a kill. With snipers, you just have to point the barrel in the general direction of someone, pull the trigger and aim assist does the rest
-
Obviously snipers

Compared to Halo nothing in Destiny takes that much skill, except for Fusion Rifles. But then again, ask the good lord Gabe and Kjhovey about shotgun and sniper skill and see what you get ;)

Edited by Apollo ll Tex: 11/27/2015 11:06:55 PMI almost always use shotguns because they are a quick and easy kill. Snipers are harder for sure.
-
Both take some skill Snipers has insane aim assist at least the ones people use 1k stare Yasmin etc And shotguns take good positioning but easy to use Conspiracy theory party crasher
-
Neither really require to much skill to use. Using effectively is different; people that mainhand shotties usually suffer from a lower K/D than others who can effectively shuffle their primary and special weapon, and can make accurate calls as to what the best approach for an engagement is. I feel sniping is simply too forgiving. The fire rate on even the high impact snipers is high enough to recover from a missed shot, and they even perform well when under fire. You do have to actually aim snipers, though.

Edited by Savage: 11/27/2015 10:12:50 PMSnipers actually require you to aim, yea aim assist helps but sniping is very easy to be bad at. I never shotgun. The last time I did was because I didn't switch any weapons over and I used invective. Was the easiest 10 k/d I ever had it was disgusting how stupid easy shotguns were to kill with. They take no skill at all, you just blast in the general direction, you don't even have to try, you just sprint around tight corners or wait around corners. Not hard at all. Pussy weapon

I will say this, snipers take skill, more so than shotguns. However with the growing popularity of snipers I feel that aim assist across all snipers needs to be adjusted to force ppl to really choose between their special weapons as I feel that the aim assist on some snipers right now is too high. You should be able to shoot to the right or left of someone's head and get a headshot. I feel that making an adjustment to sniper aim assist will force players to really be skilled with the weapon and not just take advantage of game mechanics such as aim assist. At least then I would be able to look at the sniper who just scoped me from across the map and legitimately say "what a great shot". And on another note I think shotguns do take some skill to perfect the sliding and blinking (if you blink, I personally don't) techniques. Some ppl make it look easy but it isn't as easy as everyone thinks to pull off, and I believe with the coming nerf k shotgun range again ppl who use shotguns or see shotguns used against them will really see a difference in skill as the shotgun range will be where it needed to be in the first place which will force talented players to create new ways of closing in long distances between targets to get the full effect of the shotgun which is how it always should have been.

Unless you're using Efrideet's Spear, I doubt much skill is involved
-
Aim assist
-
I run both, yet I can clearly see that snipers take much more skill than shotguns. I've been trying to get in the "hype" since shotguns will be close to useless come December. The 1k I use on my hunter has worked beautifully for me, and actually is much more satisfying than running up to them, sliding, and getting the kill. I used shotguns almost exclusively. I'm not the best at sniping, but I can respect those that use it now. And no, they're not accurate under fire; the kick is awful unless you have Unflinching.
-
I'm a sniper usually but the Chaperone quest has got me shot gunning a little more often. I can honestly say that it does take some amount of skill. But not nearly as much as becoming a good sniper.
-
At the Moment i say shotguns are easier but i think this will change soon
-
Sniper vs shotgun... I'll pick...
Fusion Rifles
THIS ISNT CSGO anyone who cares about skill needs to screw off to there and stop plagueing PvP in Destiny
-
disclaimer: this is just my opinion about the guns themselves, it does not take into account any class perks. Snipers do require skill, headshots are not a guaranty (even with some of the high AA snipers available) Shotguns require different skills. The main is getting close enough to actually use without dieing (if going against compentant people, this will be very difficult). Both require some skill, just different types.
-
61% of voters say that snipers take more skill. That's because there's more snipers on the forums crying about the next weapon type they want removed from the game.
-
Sniping would take skill if there wasn't a radar where you can tell exactly what doorway to scope in.
-
Edited by TronCat: 11/27/2015 9:18:44 PMNo skill needed in Destiny. It's either an idiot running around with a shotgun all game and ending up with a negative KD or someone sitting at the back of the map watching a lane at head level and pulling the trigger aim assist takes care of the rest. That's what the vast majority of average shotgunners or snipers do.
-
Destiny has a very low skill level, quit wasting your breath on such a casual game.
-
Both vary with situations. There are situations that take skill and those that don't. Largely based on if the enemy sees you and how much cover there is.
-
Trials is full of shotgun AIDS. It's so bad MTashed had to put up a quick loop of how to beat shotguns in this week's trials nonsense.
