What needs more skill in PVP!? Sniper or Shotgun?
Just curious to see what majority of the forum users believe takes more skill. I am not talking about any other game, so please don't compare to anything else (BO3, Halo, etc)
Feel free to express your opinion why sniping/shotgun take more skill.
Happy trials folks!
**Btw if yall could bump or like the post so more people get to see it* would be greatly appreciated!**
snipers all day
Edit: Thanks for everyone's input! As many have said it really takes no skill for either weapon if your are just camping a lane/door**

If we're being honest neither really take all that much skill since sniping in destiny is hilariously easy with the aim assist and shotgunning is also pretty easy. Sidearms and fusion rifles take more skill.
-
Proof snipers are OP and take no skill.
-
Shot gunning is a lot more push oriented. Sniping is Aiming at head level and looking down a lame. Half of the snipers on destiny are one lane wonders. Get a easy three piece and throw it in their montage. Nothing special

In all honesty, this just turns into a secondary war at this point. Shotgunners complain and call snipers out on camping and aiming down one sight line and never moving the whole game. That is entirely obnoxious and I had to deal with it a bunch in Iron Banner and some Trials teams. Snipers complain and call Shotgunners out on blink shotgun and being able to map you with a shotgun. I voted snipers mostly because of the way I play. I'm not a "sit in one spot and never move" sniper. I actually move around the map to challenge people. I'll admit though, a majority of my kills come from my sniper every game, but that's because I find it far easier for me to distance myself and put in a well timed headshot on someone. This is tougher to do because people rarely stay still in this game so you have to hit a moving target which can be pretty difficult. I have used shotguns before though, particularly the Felwinter's Lie archetype, and find them very easy to get kills with. I remember when that gun first came out, my friend got shot package and kneepads and I kept hearing him freak out at the range he was killing people from. When I got my hands on it too, and started witnessing everyone else with it, I knew crucible wasn't gonna be fun for long. It just seemed so effortless for me to just run up to someone and go "left trigger, right trigger". I think that both of them have their skill gaps, and require some amount of skill to them regardless of the whole aim assist controversy and stuff like that. I would like to, however, put the blame on Bungie for these arguments on the forums because they took out the big maps from regular crucible. Unless you're an avid combined arms player, which on comes out like once a month or something, when's the last time you've seen First Light, Bastion, or Skyshock? I haven't played those maps in a long time and they're really enjoyable to play on. Bungie took these maps out of the regular rotation because nobody liked them for some reason. This left all the medium and small maps in the normal playlists which catered greatly to shotguns. All of this inevitably led to where we are now. If I were to vote on any secondary though, I'd vote fusion rifles cause they take lots of timing and preparedness. Hopefully those start to make a comeback because they were very fun to use. Year 2 Mythoclast please?

Shot gunning does take skill it's just not impressive. Both take skill tho.

Sniper: Requires aim (With aim assist) Shotgun: Requires tactical mindset

Edited by AOSUOMI: 11/29/2015 5:34:38 AMI'll have to say Fusion Rifles. They're the only gun you have to use with timing. With a sniper, you can bodyshot if gone to crap. With a shotgun, you can pull the trigger again or melee. With a sidearm.... Spam more bullets? But with a Fusion rifle you're dead. Charge time needs to be taken within your knowledge on the enemy movement and time it so. Otherwise you shoot badly and note that your head is filled with bullets.

I'm not understanding how ANYONE could go with shotgunning. I mean yeah, snipers heave some aim assist, but that doesn't mean that you shoot the ground and get a headshot. And some snipers have low aim assist. Shotguns on the other hand is just run, get close, pull trigger
-
Honestly wish they'd remove Destiny sniper aim assist. It would be fantastic. Aim assist really messes with me. I end up getting my corrections screwed up cause the weird drag with aim assist
-
I know people are going to h8 me 4 this, but I'm going with shotguns. (Sniper vs shotgunner situation) The reason is because you will get mire kills sniping than camping with a shotgun, thus forcing the shotgunner to Sry to get up close to the sniper without being sniped. In maps like the anomoly this is easy, in maps like the pantheon, this is hard. I find that most new maps favor snipers, yes there are corners and hiding places, but why would the sniper take that risk? The odd are highly against him/her. Thus the sniper would win, in a 1v1, on a random destiny map way more often than the shotgunner. This requireing more skill from the shotgunner. Have I not made my point?

Lol. Some people actually voted shotguns
-
Fusion rifle
-
Shotties rule and campsnipers know it.
-
Believe it or not, shotguns do take some skill. Snipers certainly take more though.
-
Shotguns!
-
Lol fusions take the most skill
-
Sniping takes more skill ofc. But practically everyone can snipe
-
Fusion rifles.
-
Why is primary weapon not on this.
-
None really. I mean sure every gun takes getting used to but once you know it it's pretty easy.

Edited by Nike: 11/28/2015 6:44:12 PMJust give a Destiny beginner a shotgun or sniper. Which one are they most likely to do better with in PvP? ~TheGreatNike

62% are morons, sniping is stupid easy, I always shot gunned and recently whipped out snipers because of the terrible shottys in ttk and its so easy to pop headshots, quit crying, im not even good either
-
Is this even a question?

Edited by roman_emp85: 11/28/2015 10:37:19 PMSnipers take more kill? You're joking right. Is there skill in camping an area during trials waiting for the opposing team to pop their head. It takes more skill to close the gap on snipers camping long lanes of sight and blasting them in the face with your Chaperone. There is lot more movement and button smashing than people like to admit. There is nothing hard about staying hard scoped on a lane and getting a headshot. They aren't that hard to pull off. Plus, with Luck in the Chamber, many of you shitty snipers just spam your bullets and hope to get lucky. Although the perk is useless... Plus, All snipers do is headglitch. Atleast a shotgun user confronts you face to face. Skill? More like pathetic. I will willingly say that sniping requires more skill the day that the aim assist is reduce and snipers don't heavily really on it for headshots, and the day they stop headglitching.

Fusion Rifles.

Fusion rifles obviously, lul
