Q: What is this?
A: Installation 01 is a fan game created by Halo fans from all over the world. The aim of this project is to be both an artistic tribute to Halo and a fun way to experience Halo on PC, Mac and Linux free and legally. Our primary goal is to recreate the multiplayer experience of the Halo trilogy, bringing in features from all Halo games to make the ultimate multiplayer sandbox!
Q: When is this being released?
A: Short answer: 8-12 months, no promises.
Long answer: We’d like to include several well-made maps and a solid arsenal of weapons and gamemodes in our first open beta build. Depending on how many more artists and programmers join the team, we are looking at an 8-12 month wait until our first publicly available build. However, there will be more trailers and information released as we progress, and hopefully the teaser trailer we just released will serve as a shining beacon to talented folks in the fan community. The more the merrier, keep reading for information on how to help.
Q: Is this legal?
A: We are abiding by Microsoft’s Fair Use Policy and their Game Content Usage Rules. http://www.xbox.com/en-us/developers/rules
Everything in the game is fan created and can be legally downloaded and distributed in accordance with the Game COntent Usage Rules. We are not out to make any money, even to cover costs. The work is all a labor of love, our team gets nothing in return except the satisfaction of making the ultimate Halo tribute, and some portfolio building.
Q: How can I help?
A: We are in need of more team members. We are currently recruiting for these positions:
-3D artists (especially animators)
-2D artists
-Programmers
Our current team size is about 20 people giving their free time on-and-off depending on school and work schedules (about half of us are either computer science or art students, with hobbyists and professionals mixed in). We would like to expand, so please comment if you are interested in helping, we will get back to you ASAP!
Share your thoughts and feedback please! :)
Edit: Ayy lmao we got our first Kotaku "article." The author didn't even bother to contact Bean or I for information :/ So, if you guys see any weird news about our project floating around the internet, send me a link.

Hmm. What do 2D artists contribute to I1, exactly? Do they have to be digital artists?
-
Was that a Bigass port? Pls no no no no no stop no stop that map takes the definition of One-sided gameplay and combines it with the term "rape dungeon." OT: Looks like you've come a long way since I first saw the screenshots of an early build where the textures were pure white. Back then, being on halomaps.org had dulled my hopes of projects like this being successful, but I'm more than glad to be proven wrong! I look forward to seeing the improvements that lead to the final product.

What ever happened to Project Contingency? That looked like a pretty good fan made Halo game.
-
Is there some kind of copyright law you guys have to worry about?
-
Looking forward to it. Keep up the good work
-
Looks like it's coming along nicely, can't wait to see the final product. I'd offer to help but I'm way too inexperienced to really do anything
-
It looks fantastic! Lots of progress has been made I see from the last time I had a look at this in the beginning of the year. Other than the pre-build models and animations that need work, this is incredible. I can't wait to see the end result. Hats off to you and your team!

I'm sure the video is an early build, but thats what I'm gonna go off. What does it have to offer more than what the base game(with mods) or the open sauce community projects? From the looks the textures, gameplay, and player models are all lower quality than the base halo 2 game. I mean, its a cool idea none the less and very interesting. I just wonder the point or the reason for trying to create a whole new halo game is.
This is not hate, just poking at the negatives out of curiosity.
