I've been a pulse rifle user from long ago. I love the feel of the weapon and how it rewards precision. It's true they are the top choice for crucible and other weapon types have a harder time competing. However, was 'nerfing' to this degree necessary? 9% base damage reduction to LROF and 8% to MROF? I'm sure with head seeker there will still be a possible two burst kill. But, does anyone feel this may be an overkill? Thoughts?

3 burst rifles will still be dangerous. ~TheGreatNike

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. My understanding with Bungie's tweak to pulse rifles was that they were in the power position they were supposed to be. When buffing them to the position they are now the pulse rifle was at optimal performance. Now, we have an almost reciprocal reduction in buffs to low rate of fire pulse rifles. I truly hope that these nerfs make a very mild impact, but with their track record of weapons balancing it may not end well. If anything, other weapon types should have received minor buff adjustments to bring things in line.

Didn't they get like a 20% buff pre HOW?
-
I just wish nerfs only affected PvP and the weapons were left alone for PvE. That would just make too much sense for Bungie to do. Pound that 'like' if you agree!
jk about the like
Edited by Din: 11/23/2015 2:54:07 PMIt's over kill for sure. I believe this was he same nerf they gave to ARs early in year one which made them pretty useless in crucible. However, these changes should make ARs a lot more fun in crucible now! I look forward to these changes. It almost makes it a new game.

No it is a good nerf. They will still be good don't worry

All weapons award precision.

Edited by Radahn: 11/23/2015 6:50:08 PMIf you really are that skilled and stuff......getting headshots..you will only need 1 more bullet than normal..the nerf will affect mainly bodyshot users.

IMO a two burst kill is much worse than a two shot hand cannon kill. The learning curve for the Hand Cannon 2 shot at least made it so less people could pull it off. As it is now it feels like many more people are two burst killing than people were two shotting with Thorn or TLW. At least in the hand cannon era those guns were harder to come by. Two burst (some 2.5 burst) pulse rifles are very easy to obtain.

Nlb will remain strong

The best thing you can do is to really look at and understand the graph that they out up. 1 extra bullet is all you need on most archetypes and that isn't that much. They're making so that you have to get those headshots which you should already be doing anyway.
-
Two shot burts should never kill a player at full health. Thats just way too extreme
-
It's true they are nerfing them, but I'm not gonna let it ruin me. I'm still gonna run my 315 sum. Though I should look for an auto rifle as backup
-
They already wrecked the Hopscotch Pilgrim now they want to further wreck because of crybabies. Pulses are not OP. It's other weapons that are UNDERpowered. Buff them and leave pulses alone.
-
Ya..I agreed. This nerf is not necessary' Just buff auto. The thing is when they nerf guns...It apply to PVE too... Its stupid. PVE is set based on PVP..!! PVE enemies are different than PVP. Many weaker than Guardian in PVP...but exist in great number...some more power full...some very OP...we can even get close.
-
It feels like overkill but if their graph is correct it won't be a huge difference we will have to see.
-
Pulses are where they need to be right now. Everything else needs a buff they do not need a nerf.
-
I would have been happier with a 5% nerf. With the condition is that is not enough they could do a 1% each weak till balanced. I don't like to see swings in damage by 10%. Pulse rifles are strong now. HC's are currently trash, shotgun sliding is ridiculous. And fusion rifles are unusable. So the weapon balance update will change crucible. Hopefully for the better. On the plus side, Bungie is boosting most weapon damage for pve.
-
Still can't believe Zhalo is getting a 7% damage buff. It's going to be crazy.
-
Did you see the chart? It changes the amount of bullets by about 1 extra bullet. Trust me it's not gonna be that bad
-
Everyone will be dusting off their Mida Multitools.
-
Hard to say at the moment. But, something certainly needs to be done. This is the 2nd change being made to pulse rifles, so hopeful they get it right this time. Whatever right means to Bungie this day of the year.
-
I've always liked pulse because it feels like the halo BR to me - only reason they have gotten popular is that other stuff has been nerfed to crap popular does not equal OP
-
Meh, I'll still be using pulse rifles after the nerf. They're just my favorite. I think we'll still be able to wreck with them.
-
They buff them 9% back then and now 9% nerf? Seriously sometimes I have a bad match even using a PR, just the buff from AR is ok
