The following propositions are based on my personal experiences in this game (particularly regarding item drops and legendary marks). If you have a different experience, don't flame, just state your opinion / ideas please.
The thing I resent most about Destiny is that it requires spending excessive amounts of time doing the same stuff over and over. I expect from a game to keep me entertained without my having to pour endless time into it. I want to hop into it for maybe 1 to 3 hours a day and be able to actually get somewhere - at least with one character.
Weapons
Instead of nerfing weapons to balance PvP, introduce two sets of weapon properties: One for PvE, one for PvP. The Murmur (dual elemental damage fusion gun from Eris Morn) had that already, so that shouldn't be a problem at all.
Gear
Gear rating should be Gauss distributed, but the peak of the Gauss curve should be around -5 to +5 of the light value the character getting the drop has. Item type drop rates should also be (close to) equal (i.e. a 50:50 chance to get a weapon or gear engram, and let's say a 20:20:20:20:10:10 chance for helmet / chest / arm / leg / class / artifact item drops).
Rewards
Nightfalls and raids should have a guarantee to yield at least one 300+ weapon or armor item per character and week.
Exo Engram Farming
Let the psion flayers have a chance to drop an exo engram. It works for the bond brothers, so why not here? Right now, this strike is just a waste of time when farming exo engrams using three of coins on strike bosses during a sequence of heroic strikes. Also significantly increase the 310 engram drop chance for characters with 300+ light.
Legendary Marks
While at the start I needed a lot of legendary marks, I am not having much use for them now: I have got all vendor items I wanted to purchase, and infunding gear by far doesn't consume what I earn even without my doing the daily PvE mission (since I am getting tons of useless legendary engrams I can dismantle).
One at least partial cure for this would be to sell weapon parts for legendary marks instead of glimmer. I don't know why Bungie hasn't come up with that (maybe it was easier to expand the gunsmith shop interface using an existing interface part, and adding purchases for legendary marks to it would have required more effort), but that would give legendary marks at least some use.
Resources
In year one, you needed way too many resources to level up an item. Now the pendulum has swung over to the other side and you need too few. I believe that a research node requiring resources (spin metal, spirit bloom, helium filaments, relic iron, worm spores, hadium flakes) taking 8 pieces of the required resource would bring back a reasonable and enjoyable amount of resource gathering.
Such a change might also give legendary marks some use, as people might resort to the vendors for resources they need more frequently to save the effort to collect them.
Dreadnought Chests
The dreadnought chests should give better loot, like let's say one item rated around 300. Right now, after having all calcified fragments I need, I have got a few chest keys in my inventory, but cannot be bothered using them - the loot doesn't warrant spending even the few minutes getting to the dreadnought and the chest for me.
Court of Oryx
The loot rewards should be better here and more oriented towards the light rating of the guardian earning them. The higher the fight's tier, the more this should apply. Again, I cannot be bothered doing the Court of Oryx after having gotten the ToM, and when getting useless low rating loot from it most of the time.

Hmm.. nope it wont happen. why because some of these ideas seem good, bungie wont be having that.
