1. Bad days... everyone has them. Some more than others.
2. If my friends want to play and they suck, I won't stop them. Please, go ahead and drop my KD by 2 points.
3. Crap-design quests (shindig in the crucible. Inb4 all the year 1 scrubs who grinded TLW in Y1 say "that quest literally took me 3 games hahaha!" No one cares, that gun is crap and the quest is shit).
4. not using OP weapons and/or subclasses (AKA- "crucible easy mode"- sunbreaker, pulse rifle, shotgun, prox. detonate rocket)
5. People who take some time to get used to PVP or coming back from a break, the first few games come out below 0.5 and that kills it for them.
Comment your own, I'll edit them in the post if i like them :D
P.S.
The thing that, in my opinion, defines a good player is SPM (Score Per Minute), and in a way grim score.

Edited by NfnT00: 8/29/2016 10:57:20 AMhow can kd matter when they put you in uneven teams? Then theres being put in a losing match near the last few seconds and then getting booted out for a second and having your score wiped.

Not matter what you say or try to justify KD numbers, in the end it does matter. Are there cases that players with high KDs suck? YES. Are there cases players with low KDs play good? YES. But that's not the whole truth. The truth is that the majority of the time people's KDs are a signal of how consistent you are whether you're soloing crucible or playing with a team. TIME itself it's also involved. Many people have played a long time so if they have a bad day their KDs wouldn't drop drastically since their game time is high as hell. KD is an average of your skill. If you have a 1.2 KD and go against a 2.0 KD player, 8/10 times you'll lose against that player. That doesn't mean you can't never beat that player, it just means he is more consistent and more skillful than you. Is there anything wrong about that? NO! It's just a video game! The fact is players with high KDs didn't get up there just cause or by luck, they got that KD for a good reason...they're skillful. Stop trying to justify low KDs. In the end it's a video game and whether we have a high or low KDs shouldn't matter. Get over it, there are better players than you all the time...it's a fact, the majority of them will have high KDs guaranteed!

Edited by troubleSOM3: 11/17/2015 6:21:13 PMpretty much every single reason you made applies to everyone equally. you're making a horrible assumption that those reasons only apply to people with lower kd's. no, even people with high kd's experience pretty much every single point you made. example bad days, playing with friends who arent as good, etc...sorry bud quit making excuses. people with high kd's earned it. simple as that. edit: lol @ u for thinking grimoire score defines being a good player.

On a scale of jello to potato, What color is your Spider-man underwear?
-
To get a good KD all you have to do is play with a full team all day
-
Kd shouldn't matter to older gamers, you know guys with jobs, kids and a wife. These guys need to play for fun and to relax, but the younger guys it should definitely matter because they gotta carry my old tired ass lol
-
A big reason? For me, I will never leave a game, no matter what. If it's down to me against 6 other players, I will stay in. I feel like I learn more from those situations than any other. Team sucks, I stay in. Everybody leaves, I stay in. I'm getting totally freaking rekt, I stay in. I've seen guys that I started trashing in a game just drop out. I'm like, what the heck? I go to their profile, check their K/D, what do you know? Their K/D is 1.5, 1.8, 2.2 etc. Ah, I see, he's one of those "K/D matters" fellers. Those poor, poor misguided souls. Oh well, let them bask in the light of their pseudo-elitism. Let's see them go into every game solo as a random, without a team, only them and whoever matchmaking gives them, never drop out of any game ever for any reason, and still maintain those K/Ds. I'm sure there are some who could. But, I'm also sure that a pretty healthy portion of them would have K/Ds down below 1.0. I don't give a crap about my K/D. That's not to say that I don't always try my best, because I do. But, if my best just so happens to not be good enough that game, I stick it out and keep on, keeping on.
-
K/D is not important W/L is important Strong players will win over half their games, even if searching solo. Nothing trumps team chemistry. With everyone pushing together, converging on the enemy. You'll be able to swiftly annihilate the opposing team. Assisting is just as important! As well as preventing your team from dying. Protector medals are valuable because it prevents the opposing team from scoring.

Reasons people make threads saying KD doesn't matter: 1. Theirs is not very good and they're trying to justify it.
-
I 100% agree
-
KD matters.
-
I think if I hadn't -blam!-ed around I would have probably had at least a 2.0 KD. Also I play with friends and sometimes they rage and back out or they just back out for no reason and damages my combat rating.
-
6. Playstyle. A mediocre player may play extremely cautious and have a better k/d than a good player that play more agressive. For ex. The player that has 20 kills and 10 deaths with a 2.0 k/d is better than a player with 9 kills and 3 deaths with a 3.0 k/d.
-
What about just messing around and doing fun challenge modes like melee only or something?
-
You're just mad because you're bad lol
-
Nice kd bro, hahahahah
-
People who complain about "stats not mattering" usually suck
-
Real reason kd doesn't matter... It's a video game.
-
Main reason: it's just a video game.
-
Reason No. 1 K/D doesn't matter: OP sucks at crucible
-
You can be utter shit with a high K/D. Or really good with a low K/D. But it doesn't really matter. K/D is more so bragging rights
-
If KD doesn't matter, then why did he try so hard?: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DdQw4w9WgXcQ&ved=0CB0QyCkwAGoVChMIhvWN3dGXyQIVxe8mCh0MsAdY&usg=AFQjCNF4S1CbXh9O_EKlE4dhbppfGWnJvQ

Also it's a game who gives a fcuk
-
k/d is a digital penis that they can make bigger because their real one cant get bigger

Edited by SKTCHWLKR: 11/17/2015 2:55:10 PMSome things you listed nullifies your personal K/D, not everyone else's. 1.I agree that people have bad days but K/D is an average and as everyone else has stated, shows your consistency. I have bad days to, but my good days out weigh them. 2.Your personal K/D is not a good representation of you as a player because others have played your account. I however, don't let others play therefore mine is a true representation of the player I am. 3. A decent player knows how to survive these influxes of quests. If two people use TLW, the better player will out score the other. 4. I didn't conform to the Thorn/TLW meta and continued to use my scouts. I still do use them and haven't conformed to the current meta. I also use stillpiercer/sidearm and a LMG and run a Tripmine/Knife Gunslinger. 5. Refer to .1 Don't get me wrong, K/D is NOT the only thing that matters. I feel people either believe it's the only thing that matters or that it doesn't matter at all. K/D is 1 of a few things that show someone's skill. Combined with CR, W/L, and Average Score, is a great way to determine ones abilities.
