Metacritic is not a reliable critic. So that's your first error. Also, you need to form your own opinion instead of relying on reviews. Watch gameplay or something.

you can still rent games and play them before buying them... or borrow from a friend... i don't go based on critics...

That's what I do if I'm not sure about a game and I either beat it or know to buy it.
