I think a majority of us agreed with the triple RNG with the King's Fall Raid being the way it is (rng for drop rate, rng for item type, rng for item type light level) we've all been kicked in the nuts more than once on the loot we've received (or not).
I propose a very simple solution: a raid vendor. And his name is the Speaker.
Think about it, the Speaker serves almost no endgame function even though he is at the top of the Tower's hierarchy. We pass by the broom sweeping bots more than we do him.
My plan would work like this, and it is nothing new in the world of gaming. The Speaker would serve as our raid vendor. We'll use King's Fall as an example of how this would work.
--You earn 10 Raid Marks by defeating each boss encounter during the raid. In the case of King's Fall, you would earn 40 marks for the entire raid (normal or hard, not both), being that there are 4 boss encounters. You can only earn 40 per week per character, and the marks cannot be transferred.
--The Speaker would sell the gear pieces for your character (including ghosts and class items) for 75 marks each, and the helmet would be 100.
--The Speaker would also sell hard mode gear once unlocked, but the rolls would be fixed so you would still have reason to try and get the roll you want from a raid drop.
Now I know what some of you are thinking: "but this would be too easy to max out our characters!" Not really. Even if the Speaker sold the gear at 310 and 320 (not saying they would be), it would still take you 8-9 weeks to buy just the armor pieces from him for one character.
I believe given the current light level system, this would be the best course of action for any future raid. I think it is fair and rewarding. It would allow us the comfort of knowing "well, I didn't get much this week, but next week I can get an extra armor piece!" That would be pretty cool. And we wouldn't have to visit the salt mines so much. And on top of that, one of the game's supposedly more important characters would be relevant again.
So what do you all think?
EDIT: For clarification, this raid vendor acts as an addition, not replacement. You would still get your RNG loot from boss kills as you do now. Your marks would be raid specific also. You could not just spam old raids for marks for the most up to date gear.
