So I saw a post suggest we all wear France colored shaders in response of the recent events. That sparked an idea.
What if Bungie created a shader(France Flag Colors) that cost silver. Bare with me, this would essentially be a fundraiser where all the proceeds(and I mean all Bungie) go towards a non-profit that will be helping out in the aftermath of this tragedy. The shader isn't even important, even if I bought nothing and they just used their current silver currency system as a way for us Guardians to donate, I would be happy.
Some people don't think money can help and here's my response. Also if you think of any other ways it can help please tell us your idea.
Response: I think theirs actually a lot of ways money can help: Help people that are hurt that can't afford medical care, help send missionaries, help with damages that won't be covered by the government, help fund support groups and therapy that a large portion of people will need....help families that lost a loved one have a proper burial if they can't afford it.
Money can help if it's put in the right places.
To anyone who says Bungie doesn't need to do this, theirs plenty of other ways and avenues to help: Your right.
But, this could be a way for the Destiny Community to come together and actually help out with real world events. Sure these forums are filled with squabbling and complaint over exotics and balancing. But this could be an incredible way for all of us to put that aside for a second and think about the good we could do for someone else.
My heart goes out to all those affected by this tragedy.

Some of that money that buys silver goes to Activision and Sony/MS. They would need to be involved if this were to work.

I've been saying this for awhile. Bungie could raise so much money by adding charity shaders or emblems. Even if they had a 'choose silver donation' button. We all get new shaders and with so many of us playing we would raise a ton of money. Money is 1000x better to donate than clothes or food or shoes. Money gets them what they need. Things like clothes out local business who make clothes out of business. I am 100% for this and I think that it would be fantastic.

It is a great idea, but no. People die everyday in wars, terrorist attacks, disease, and starvation. Sorry but where does it end? Just because it is a first world country that got attacked we need a shader. If you want to help why do you need a shader? Just donate because it is the right thing to do, not for some video game swag. Or do you want to the shader so people know you donated, and you can feel superior to those that don't have it.

We already shaders with France's colors.

*Praying for France*

Hopefully Satan will hear all of your prayers and welcome the victims to Hell.

If bungie really cares they won't need a fundraiser for this....if you don't remember they have taken a lot of money from the community...

Hey guardians, I'm an Arabic translator and I work for the US govt. as a middle-east analyst, I started a new thread with answers to some FAQ's, and where I'll be responding to questions anyone might have, take a look if you want to learn more about the subject of ISIS and the Paris attacks. The best way for a lot of us to help Paris to become educated. Link to thread: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/173468563/0/0

Bungie should donate a questline for the players to build a French monument in the city. Maybe make it a timed event where if the players succeed Bungie will make a real donation to help those affected by these events

You would've had me if you never mentioned a shader. I'm sorry and this is going to sound cynical as hell, but I think when Nepal happened most of the people who bought the shirt didn't care about those people they just wanted the shader and emblem. My response to this is pretty much the same. People would only donate for the shader and not because they care. TL;DR- You shouldn't get rewarded because you donate. It's supposed to be out of the kindness of your heart.
-
Do you really want to help or do you just want the shader?:/
-
No. No no. It is a tragedy what happened and my prayers go out to France but they need no relief. Relief from what? Money doesn't help with grief. They weren't hit with a devastating natural disaster like Nepal was. Just be there for France and pray to them. If you're asking for some kind of physical totem to tout around saying "hey guys look what I did! I care soooooo much" then you don't deserve to donate since all you care about is the reward you get.
-
Just no.
-
There are already ways to donate that do not include bungie. If you care, use them.
-
Stop giving them more idea's to milk money from players....

It was 150 or so people killed. While it's a horrible event, it's not something like Nepal or other disasters requiring something like this. I'm all for showing support but bungie could throw a shader out in about 10 minutes for free, if they wanted to.
-
Although truly terrible this is not a disaster to an impoverished nation that can not help themselves It is not a relief situation, money will not help I do agree wearing shaders to represent support, maybe Achilles to show unity and support during this truly saddening time Thoughts and condolences to those caught up
-
Good man I will gladly support this I may not have much but I try to donate what ever I can from time to time
-
I dont really think money will help paris to be quite honest. it's not a relief effort. there is no rescue to fund.
