In an fps game, what factor is more important than gun skill?

In a "free for all" or clash type setting? Nothing. In a co-op/objective based game? Being a team player. The ability to perform multiple tasks at once, that may or may not include shooting. The ability to instantly change rolls when something goes wrong. The ability to teach/instruct people how to do something. The ability to learn quickly. Some examples, I have a friend who is insanely good at regular crucible, but can't get past 4-5 wins in ToO do to him not being a team player. I have another friend who is good at all things pvp, but is terrible in raids (can't time jumps very well, gets killed very easily)

I can definitely agree with those points. But at the same time, you do need a certain level of gun skill

Absolutely, but a truly skilled player has all of those attributes and more, along with gun skill.

I believe most skill in fps games can be seen in good map awareness, and situational control. Alot of the time you need to run, and avoid an encounter, good players know when that needs to be done, and the best way to get away and turn the advantage in their favor

Absolutely! That too, in addition to everything else.
