Do you guys even realize the work to constantly update raids? Its not a simple switch to update them. Id rather have them create NEW content than the old shit we've done 100 times already. People bitch about replaying same content yet bitch they wanna keep doing old raids... Love the logic

  • most of the work required is already done when they brought all gear down to their new levels of 170 max the issue past that is to increase enemy level you do not need to touch mechanics after that and the next issue is to just put the infuse ability on those items.

    I know it takes a ton of time, but why bother to make raids if they will be pointless in the next expansion? Yes, increasing difficult is hard but I think it would be worth it seeing as these Raids are one of the crown jewels for Destiny so why put so much work into them only to have them be pointless? At the very least they could have made the gear infusable. Destiny is based around "Making a guardian that represents you" having old gear being pointless is kind of going against that. For example I loved the CE Hunter armor but now I can't wear that gear because it's at 170 defense and I can't bring it up to par with any other gear. So now I have to wear gear I may not like because of light level issues. Oh and out of curiosity are you a programmer?

  • First, i just wanna state i totally agree with you on wanting VoG gear and your other points. Second, heres my take on why we wont see it ... for a while at least. (This is going off of playing various mmo's over the last 8 years or so) Right now they are trying to keep content fresh and to build the world larger and larger. Updating old stuff they have is not efficient and won't make any money. People will rage about why we would pay again for just an updated version of what we already done and they wony give out the work for free. This is all understandable and all companies do this. There will though, sometime in the next year or two, be enough old content to go over and "redo". This will entail a total rehaul of all old content and most likely introduce a vanity type system to look how you want. They will supplement this for new dlc and package it as its own. This has been done by other games and a way for them to profit from their efforts of redoing content. Right now theres not enough old stuff to sell on its own and to much to just fit in to their schedule. Just imagine the replayability of just a vanity system! People will grind out old shit again just to look how they want and with very little effort from bungie. The problem right now is there is what ... 3 sets of gear to go collect (pve wise)? Once again its not efficient to see a vanity system yet because theres not enough sets to choose from. Wait another year of dlc's and then we can talk. The other side is its not OG/cool to sport old stuff yet. Give another couple years and all day 1 shit will be baller again and rare as hell. Were just starting to see the "whos rocking beta emblem" threads and others like it. Im not no "they are scamming us" type of person. I dont think they are screwing us but just trying to sustain themselves and make profits. There is only so much they can work on at any given time. They have a boss (Activision) and need to turn a set amount of profit.

  • Modifying something that already exists is MUCH easier than building it from scratch, especially considering the mechanics could all stay the same. It would literally take one new sql table to handle the new drops, and (up to 3, depending on how they implimented it) variable redeclarations,and then BOOM, old content is viable again. How hard do you think it was to make strikes level based OR have light 240 difficulty?

    Are you a programmer with intimate knowledge of how that all works? Is it a simple enter X value and done? What about the weapons ? Do we just instantly get 320 fatebringer etc which would ruin every other gun out there? Burns were removed so now those all have to be reworked. What about the story of the game and fact we already beat tge old raids. Crotas just as viable as his dad with loot and we keep killing him while we kill his dad? Im not a programmer in the slightest but know there is more to it then a "simple" fix. Theres shit we'd never even thought of that would create issues. The heavy ammo bug was there for how long and pertained to it causing problems down the line with other stuff. A simple fix was screamed from the community but wasnt the case. Quiver bug thats recently disabled because it wasnt a quick fix. .... now you want an entire raid, armor, weapons retooled? No thanks gimme a new raid and new content. I think majority of bitching for old stuff brought back is they are the people having trouble with current content difficulty. They cant beat hard mode oryx or go to lighthouse easily so bring back their glory days of Atheon and fatebringer.

  • just because something is beaten does not mean its rewards cannot or should not be ungraded ... there is always a way it could be included into the lore .. i mean we have a gunsmith, why is he called a gunsmith if he cannot modify or attempt to modify a weapon? and we also have the vanguard armory why cant they do armor upgrades?

[/quote] I've programmed a few indie games, and based on actual interviews with the developers (yes, I watch those), yes, that is how it works. Imago loop can already drop with identical stats to fatebringer but without arc burn, so no, that's not an issue either.how many times did we replay those raids? That's already a problem with linear Continuity, if we beat crota once and for all, why did we go back in to do again the next week? (Hint, because loot drops sucked). So let me explain the difference between patching an erroneous bug and updating new content. Bugs are unpredictable glitches in code that take hundreds of hours to track, THE original code needs to be reworked around the faulty line or behavior. Heavy ammo and nightstalker glitch exist in the background code, for every instance of the game, so there are a multitude of factors to Consider when developing a patch. VoG on the other hand, already has a mode(hard) with fixed enemy level, raid drops, and working mechanics. The onlychange that would need to be done is (as I already said) changing that level variable and using a new sql table to store the loot drops. [quote]No thanks gimme a new raid and new content. They just feel as though all the old content is pointless, making the current endgame two activities that can only be done for gear once per week. Progress is limited and old, enjoyable activities would be a good alternate Avenue for (slightly lower level but still viable) gearing up.

  • theres no need even to make a new sql table if you dont leave the old stuff in the code but because destiny is still a game where you can buy only the vanilla itteration it has to be maintained in the way your thinking

  • give an intelligent person a crash course on understanding how they wrote their code and maybe the language they did it in and they could likely franken their code for them to update those raids to include a heroic version which brings the old 2 raids + arena to y2 levels. iv done something similar to javascript code for a website and as a ragnarok online private server admin, i also added in new pets into the system for differentiation between servers once you find out what is the variable or what tells something what it is you can easily change it. neither of those things took longer then a day all tho i admit it was slightly smaller in scale. nothing needs to change other then adding an infusion ability to those items(already present in the form of etheric light in a way) and increasing the mobs levels to 40-42

  • Because your doing the same repetitive crap now but with even less content to grind and fewer rewards. After 60 days of play I hit that wall hard and thought why am I wasting my time. Sorry but the developers in nerfing, buffing , creating shortages and pampering to PVP players and to how the Bungie team liked or felt the game should be played have ruined the game and made it completely boring and unrewarding. Also fix Firefly you lazy programmers. It still crashes the F...ng game. Oh but wait dude got how many weapons parts from dismantling his weapons hot fix that immediately. Our 3 of coins actually gives you exotics... nerf that immediately. The Spindle actually dropped at a light level worthy of its difficulty to obtain we'll fix that. Yeah RNG is improved by that we mean it's a Repeating Number Generator. You buy the item your guaranteed to get loads more for dismantling. Oh well I'll maybe try Destiny again next year when they reset everything again. I'll finish those bounties then and be no worse off than all the schmucks that stayed with it.
