There's a planetdestiny podcast with Jon Weisnewski that explains why the old raids are irrelevant.
He says something along the lines of...
We have a budget and we can either spend that budget on revamping old content (making it relevant again) or creating completely new content.

How much time and money would be spent adjusting hit points and loot tables? It's a f-cking spreadsheet. They don't have to do any actual work!
-
They could use the money they get from micro transactions seeing as the micro transactions are NOT paying for new expansions and I don't think it will cost too much money to make old raids relevant again.
-
Sorry but that is just bull, total horse crap, lies and dumb, it does not take 20 years working in IT development to know its not going to cost cosmos or deej wage to change the light levels on raid gear
-
lets make something new. Not make something old still work.
-
He's full of shit. How hard is it to increase the level and and change the level of the drops? Whatever guess I'll keep staying away.
-
Wow.... they have millions of dollars worth of budget, and all they would have to do is some coding to change the light levels of some guns and armor.
-
They can use the micro-transaction money to do this
-
Yea. Micro-transaction money is basically disposable income to them.
-
They say it will be used for things like festival of the lost but why not put it to something that will actually matter and might bring back players that left do to lack of content?
-
Cuz it's Bungie and everything must have a grind attached to it.
-
It would take a very small amount of money to make the raids relevant again, and it would lay the infrastructure so that they AND all new raids would stay relevant as well. It's a design issue more than a cost issue.

Edited by JHarv: 11/9/2015 6:33:17 PMThey have a budget? How many millions of dollars does it take to bump something that already exists up to current levels? We're not asking you to give them a brand new loot table, new mechanics, or anything. Just make VoG light level 300, with appropriate leveled gear. Done.

i wouldnt even care if it had 300 ll gear just it being put into a spot where i can still find people to raid with and where i can infuse its gear to max light would be nice
