Edit: Thanks guys, I get that I spelled guaranteed wrong I've fixed it now...
I know this has been happening from the beginning of trials and I'm SURE it's very lucrative with some people 'charging' upwards of $120 or more to carry total scrubs to the lighthouse (I was watching a stream where I'm surprised the guy being carried could even complete PvE content, he was charging $80 per card and some unknown higher amount if you wanted insurance just in case you had to wipe a card once which would be another $80 without that extra amount up front).
I'm torn on this issue, people have been making money or benefiting from the inadequacies of people that can't do something from the beginning of time. But, this 'service' they are providing kind of seems wrong to me.
What are all of you fine guardian's opinions? Please elude without incriminating yourself if you are someone that gets paid upwards of $800-$1,600 per week (split between the two carrying the nubs). If they only charge $80 and on average a trials run without wipe takes an hour that would be the same as someone making roughly $84,000 if it is an equal split between the two doing the carrying and that is what they did 40 hours a week (Trials lasts for roughly 96 hours; so, if there is a steady flow of individuals that are desperate to go to the light house you could make the bi-weekly wage of an upper-middle income individual in just one trials weekend...)

If a person can "Guarantee" a flawless run, you know the game mode is not truly competitive. There should be no way to Guarantee the end result.
-
If people reaaaally think an adept scout rifle and some 314 boots are worth 120 bucks, let then spend their money I guess lmao
-
I bought black ops 3 and a new ps4 controller all for $124.87 and even then I felt like I spent to much money, any one who actually pays for a flawless run is just sad.
-
This is why ToO is a joke.
-
Why do you think emotes have a market? Disposable income. If someone wants to make money on skill level and someone wants to pay for it, great for both parties. I have problems with charging for a "skill" that circumvents the rules (cheating on any level). I used to play way more PVP but it came to a point that if you didn't cheat, you couldn't compete. Back in the PC era, we used to have to run Punk Buster or it wouldn't let us on servers to keep the crap out.
-
Here's an example of this situation. Back in Diablo 2 there were people selling gear for money as well as grushing ( power leveling). That was frowned upon by the major of players. Blizzard did NOT accept this and neither did the majority of players, but apparently making people pay to do this OK? I swear the gaming community as a whole doesn't want pay to win. Yet this is ok....
-
How is this different from streamers who carry subs only to the lighthouse? Technically you're paying to sub....
-
Unless there is something I'm missing, there's not a whole lot Bungie could even do besides maybe ban them. The people who are doing it are making money off of a supply and demand issue. They have full right to do so. Not saying I agree with it, personally I'm good enough to make a flawless run when on my A game. But as long as they are reporting it for taxes(yes this is a taxable issue), I have no problem with it.
-
I think it's perfectly okay. If people are willing to give away some of their money to get a guaranteed flawless, then sure! Doesn't affect me! It's only s problem when some one takes the money their given, and then just leaves without doing what was promised.
-
Time is money fam.
-
If you're stupid enough to pay for it, why not?
-
You cant stop it. Stuff like this will continue to happen

Edited by CQLBS: 11/9/2015 2:59:07 PMFor the record, their are LOTS of people on Twitch who dedicate their entire weekend to carrying people to the lighthouse, without charging a single penny, myself included. Hell most of em don't even have a 'donate' button. I'm not here to advertise, but I am willing to help people for simply joining my channel and hanging out with the rest of the viewers. Without naming names, I know that their are plenty of streamers, big and small, who devote most of their weekend to helping others reach the lighthouse free of charge, you just have to find them.
-
I think it's completely ridiculous that anyone would pay for such a service, but if morons are willing to pay, I have no problem with people who provide the service.
-
I'd rather this be a viable option for people to get to the lighthouse rather than resort to cheating. If all those people are willing to pay big for a carry then I'd wager a few would be willing to cheat. I'd rather lose a game 5-4 against 2 really good players then get booted in the first round.
-
people that would pay just to get to the lighthouse are handicaps . think a normal person would pay? so cut the slower learners some slack.
-
At least they aren't cheating.
-
All I have to say on the subject is supply and demand
-
Add option : this is sad/ players should practice pvp more. Jeez.
-
I'd rather people who aren't the best at pvp do this, than resort to some form of cheating. It's their money and ego. Let them spend and inflate it. As for the carriers, more power to them. I may tease about people who play this game like it's their job, but these guys and girls are actually making money off of a hobby. Great work.
-
Only idiots would pay for a flawless run. Let them, it's their money they r throwing away for the sake of an emblem and guns which aren't better than vendor guns.
-
Question is, how could Bungie crack down on this? It's whoever gets carried's money. Why should We care?
-
I just do it for free with my clan mates....
-
I pay for microtransactions by carrying players through trials. Bungie already kinda hindered us by making trials match you against other teams of similar scores making trials carries less common unless the players are willing to divulge account information
-
Wait, they charged the guy $80, and they didn't even guarantee that they would get him flawless, so if they lost twice he'd have to pay more? I mean I'm against lighthouse carries of any sort unless it's your friends/clan, but this is just plain ridiculous. It basically means that any scrub can charge someone and then lose without any consequence.
-
I'l carry you for simply being in chat and having fun with me. Its stupid and people who pay are just as bad.
