So the grimoire makes it seem that the traveler once did for the fallen what it did for humans. Does that mean that perhaps the fallen had peaceful intentions by coming to our solar system?

The fallen are chasing the Traveler. Their whole goal in our Solar System is to steal "the Great Machine" back from us.
-
Well they are running from the darkness and were here before the collapse, but we don't know to what extent. They did raze many cities during the collapse so I am guessing they are not too friendly.
-
I thought they arrived in the wake of the Collapse

No gringo found a scannable thing in the Promethean code near the end that said otherwise. Also I found a scannable bone in the black spindle mission that says those big bones where we fought crota's soul are really just that of a tunneling worm that helped make these passages throughout the moon.
-
What's the scannable in Promethean Code say?
-
Ask gringo in chat it was a few weeks ago so I don't remember
-
Well, the Traveler was going to kill us, but the Warminds shot it, making it look like it sacrificed itself to save humanity from the darkness

The Traveler yearns for a utopia universe of eternal Golden Ages. It can't do this because of the Darkness. It gives races Golden Ages while simultaneously turning them into proxy armies, leaving when the Hive arrive. It did this to every race except for us. It was tired of running and hiding, and just our luck it decided to stand its ground in our system. Unfortunately for it, the combined forces of us and the Traveler weren't enough to fight the Darkness and win. Rasputin (either working on some master plan, preparing for what might happen, or incorrectly simulating the Traveler) crippled the Traveler, releasing both the Ghosts and a massive blast of Light, driving back the Darkness and creating the Awoken.

No it was just going to leave, not kill. If that was the case then the fallen wouldn't be here.
