I don't think deej has ever managed to put out a weekly update without pissing someone off. He's not a very good community manager

I'm sorry but to be a good community manner, in your context, you have to be -blam!-ing Jesus. These forum posters have no problem cursing him out or swearing at his mother, if they got an exotic they can't use. To survive you need thick skin and an witty attitude. Food for thought.

The community managers only job is to be a liaison between bungie and us, and keep us happy. I'd say he hasn't really done either
-
No, it is not, I should know, I was one for four years. How long have you been one?
-
So, what is the job if not that?

Edited by Lord Vetinari: 11/8/2015 12:02:46 PMDisseminate and "dumb down" patch notes so the end user can understand them. Pass on bug reports and a list of nuisance users Final oversight on forum (and in my case) in game banns Pass on suggestions from the community to the dev team (Usually done weekly via a top ten system including links to original post and a brief description of the suggestion) *If we, the CM, does not like you, you don't have a change of getting a suggestion in* Post the occasional snarky remark (you try dealing with hundreds of assholes every day, not being able to actually tell them to just -blam!- off and see how snarky you get) Defuse tension be either intervening on the side of an argument, or silent ban (even been unable to post or get notifications for no reason? that is a silent ban), or with a joke or snarky remark to distract.... you're bitching at the CM so your not bitching at each other. Troll. Oh boy do we troll, from a personal or second account, we troll the ever loving hell out of people (but never being abusive) to blow off steam. The job has nothing to do with passing on info,or making you all happy, at it's core it is being the punching bag for the community to stop them killing each other, the other duties are secondary

Edited by AEnathemaDevice: 11/8/2015 12:12:32 PMSo basically what you are saying is that your job is being a liaison between the developers and the community and to interact with the community in a generally positive way? I think he already said that.
-
Edited by Lord Vetinari: 11/8/2015 1:14:27 PMNo, the job is to put out fires and be the focus/wipping boy for the community. The rest, as I said, comes second.

When the weekly update is only him being sarcastic and irritating with no real new or updates it's annoying

To be fair it would be an extremely boring read if no frail little snowflakes felt shit on by something in there... I mean they're not a riot now. Imagine if they were nothing but bullet points. Wait, that actually sounds better. Never mind.
