I'm a Day 1 player and I've really enjoyed Destiny, BUT I logged on yesterday fired up the destination screen and thought 'what now?'. I couldn't be bothered to put together a fireteam for nightfall or raid so I ended up wandering around the dreadnaught. There's no content and the rewards for running the raid are not enough incentive to keep going back. Even slight increases to light on each raid would be something to keep the fun going. It was a mistake to not bring year 1 guns forward into year 2. With the new weapon balancing, Bungie made all weapons viable which meant players didn't have to use year 1 weapons if they didn't want to. Bungie just said, 'no, you're not playing with those anymore'. Building fireteams is painful. Why should I go to the forums to find more Guardians when I have hundreds of existing friends? The interface that Destiny gives me to contact and communicate with friends is awful. Finding a good fireteam is harder than the gameplay itself.
The infuse system is a good idea but the grind is too much. Most people can only improve their weapons from infusing unwanted raid weapons. What happens when rng means they don't drop? No weapon improvements. The whole thing is a hamster wheel and it's kinda hard to buy it anymore.
