To your 2nd point
Maybe that guy had high armor? Ive been able to ohk with my gg an occasional sunbreaker ( low armor) but most take two (higher armor)
Haven't really tried to snipe too many sunbreakers as id rather just run lol, just wondering out loud
Definitely agree with everything else though range isnt really a factor in most crucible maps

Oh, and as for surviving a golden gun...you need max armor plus a chest piece with solar armor.

Base damage against sunbreakers period is 189. High armor increases the amount of HP you have slightly. Not the amount of damage a sniper headshot will do. And players have around average 200 hp. 194 for minimum armor. So, even with a hunters lower armor as a sunbreaker, you cannot be sniped by the LDR archetype of snipers, which includes 1k.
