I can't really agree with this...
I mean, yea the NF thing is somewhat ridiculous. They shouldn't have taken the buff off and the rewards should be great. Don't forget that the rewards in year 1 would sometimes give you 13 Ascendant shards, though.
Everything else is sort of the way it should have been. You shouldn't be able to rely on year 1 weapons to do year 2 things. That would have everyone still be using Fate bringer and VOC and all of those other "Everyones Favorite" weapons. This time around, there is a lot more variety.
You can't let everyone still use year 1 weapons and armor because it would make no sense to make new weapons and armor. You have to be able to progress through the game with new stuff with every expansion because that's how most games do it.
If you want a fate bringer, grind for the Imago loop with Firefly. It seriously works just as good, if not better, than the fate bringer but it doesn't have Arc burn. You want a VoC? Grind for Treads upon Stars or go buy "Not like the others" from the crucible/vanguard guy *I forget which one it was*
There weren't many guns used in variety in year 1. Arc burn NF had Fatebringer and Found Verdict. Solar burn used Voc and whatever shotgun or sniper that had solar. Void you used Word of Crota and Swordbreaker or P.R. There was literally 5 raid guns out of both the raids that were viable weapons that people used all of the time. 1 Fatbringer, 2 VoC, 3 Black Hammer, 4 Found Verdict and 5 Word of Crota. No other weapon from the raids were ever used anyone unless the NF had a specific burn. There were maybe 5 more guns that were from vendors that were worth getting and people used.
If everyone would just get over the fact that these year 1 guns aren't ever going to come back then you would see that there are year 2 guns with the exact same stats and sometimes the exact same perks as those guns you loved the most! There is literally a year 2 gun for every favorite year 1 gun.
What I think they should do with the old raids and POE is maybe make a Weekly Nightfall Raid. It would run along side the Weekly Nightfall and would be a random raid or POE 35, excluding Kings Fall. The LL would be 300+. The raids mechanics would be the same but maybe they can add a few small things. There would be more yellow bar majors and the HP for each boss fight would be higher. Each chest can drop you moldering shards, Three of Coins, Ant. Ruins, Stolen Ruins, Materials, Weapon Part Stacks, Glimmer Stacks, Random keys for the dread naught, strange coins stacks, mote stacks, random legendary engrams and so on. Each boss battle could drop you a mixture of the last sentence plus a random Nightfall Tier/300+ LL Gear (Guns, Armor, Exotics, whatever). There shouldn't be year 2 varients of the Fate Bringer and all of those raid guns. They should let you be able to replay those raids for different drops though. I personally think that would be the best idea to ever come to light for destiny. That way Year 1 players can have a reason to play those raids again for nostalgia and grinding and year 2 newbs can play them to see the glory of year 1.

Year 2 weapons are crap, the exotics are really bad and the few good weapons are being "over used" just like Fatebringer. I tend to see alot of a certain black and white scout rifle being used "too much" and Hawksaw is manditory for PVP I guess. Why is everyone in love with the year 1 "copy" weapons? Because they made actual good weapons in year 1. People go nuts over anything that is a close copy to a year one weapon. Why is this if everyone is so happy?
-
i would sometimes rather have 13 Ascendant shards then a 290 AR lol Nightfall reward system for me is horrible

Edited by ncexnyc: 11/5/2015 3:45:04 AMOf course the complete failure of your post is to realize that we did VoG and Crota just so we could land a weapon like Fatebringer,VoC or Fang. Where is the carrot to grind strike after strike and run raid after raid? There is none today, which is why this game is in trouble. As to your point about now having a choice, yes you do. Bad or worse. If you want people to drop their old weapons you achieve that by giving them something better, not a sea of mediocrity.
-
Edited by iPeeWheniLaf: 11/5/2015 4:19:25 AMTheres nothing wrong with the weapons out right now. You had to grind raid after raid just to get VoC and FB, so why not grind strikes and other things to get strike weapons? Everyone used those weapons as a crutch and now that there isnt any weapon exactly like them, because the new ones dont melt ads in two shots, everyone is crying about it every single day because now some things are more challenging then whatbthey were when we had those guns
-
Ttk isn't harder. It's still run n gun. No interesring tactics, enemy AI, use of gear or super needed. Supers themselves are moderate effects on game play not integral to it.
-
That's exactly what made year 1 so fun - OP weapons. This game is boring with average weapons, that's why so many ppl are leaving
-
Do you not understand game design? Playing harder content is supposed to yield you better and more powerful gear.
-
U forgot fang scout rifle. Loved that gun.
-
I honestly wish they would add a challenge mode to the old raids like they are apparently doing to kings fall. Instead add a new loot table with new weapon design? Dont just copy and past year 2 stats on old vog or crota weapons create atleast 3 weapons for each raid that have a different design and perks? Would be nice and fresh and give people reason to do these old raids to obtain special new designed weapons. The raid should have harder bosses with more hp or maybe a different mechanic. Just feel putting the old guns with new stats would be a waste and lazy . I do agree with everything else though well said
-
The fang of ir yut was excellent for hectic and longer range engagements. Split time with the Fatebringer. Otherwise I agree
-
Totally agree. My load out for anything without a burn was always just Fatebringer, black hammer and gjallarhorn.

"If everyone would just get over the fact that these year 1 guns aren't ever going to come back then you would see that there are year 2 guns with the exact same stats and sometimes the exact same perks as those guns you loved the most! There is literally a year 2 gun for every favorite year 1 gun." You're wrong. There isn't a yr.2 messenger lol. Reforging was one of the best things to happen to destiny (I'm glad they got rid of final round snipers) and we cannot bring these weapons into yr.2. I loved hearing peoples roll preferences, it brought a deeper level to the game. Iv'e enjoyed TTK for it's out of box content, but longevity is being questioned until I see some change. Maybe reforging comes back. *crosses fingers
-
Spare change is Y2 which has the same impact as the Messenger...
-
Spare Change kept the impact yr.2. The recoil pattern however, cannot compare to messenger.
-
Yeah just correcting the guy who said there's no Y2 Pulse rifle's with Messenger like impact
-
Reforging was the absolute worse thing they ever did. This made everyone try snd get the same weapon that everyone else had and it made weapon diversity null. You have to have weapon diversity to have some sort of replay value. You get a weapon you wanted drop from Nightfall RNG and it didnt have the perks you wanted. No lroblem, re roll to your hearts desire. It msde things very 1 sided and lazy.

Edited by SamFlossstein: 11/5/2015 10:15:58 AMI understand that Guardians were re-rolling for "God Rolls" BUT I wanted to take my "God Roll" to yr.2 I gained an emotional attachment to a few guns I had yr.1 -I wish Bungie would acknowledge this aspect of some players like myself. We are obviously a minority in respect.

Edited by McRachid: 11/5/2015 1:45:19 AMNice post men. Good idea with that weekly thing. They must make VoG, Crota and PoE worth playing again. I never play it anymore but i do miss it.
-
I agree 100% with the nightfall raid!

Question: could they have solved the problem of five guns with burns ruling the game by creating more options with burns fit players to choose from? This game almost always chooses "take it away" or "nerf it" as the answer. They've deliberately ignored the Diablo team's advice of leaning towards the players, and the backlash is warranted. Games are supposed to become better and more enjoyable as time goes on. This one does not.
-
Great reference here to the Diablo lesson, agree they are completely missing this and the "fun" factor is getting penalised heavily. Bungie here us please

Edited by iPeeWheniLaf: 11/5/2015 1:52:07 AMNo one complained about those guns being used all the time. Now, there are plenty of guns to choose from, even with them not having burns. The reason why they took burns off of primaries is because it made things wayyy too easy. You cant just make a ton of primaries, with different burns, just so people can have a variety of primary guns with burns to choose from instead of just using a few chosen ones. With no burns, you have a much larger variety and it makes some things more challenging. The guns that they complained about were rightfully nerfed. Yea, they didnt have to nerf black hammer or IB before the new expansion but having to use those all the time was like a crutch to everyone. It took the challenge out. Theres a ton of guns to choose from now because primaries dont have burns anymore and the meta is a lot better than it was. Is meta absolutely perfect? Far from it....but its a lot better than "choose from these 5 primaries" for PVE or "Thorn/Last Word" for pvp. I think the game is ten times better than what it was.

Edited by fROSTSHOCK!: 11/5/2015 3:42:13 PMThere are just as many guns to choose from, and I use about the same amount as I did before the burns: Year One: Fatebringer/VoC/Vex Party Crasher/Icebreaker Rocket launcher(Didn't get Gjally until late) Year Two: ToM/Zhalos/Hung Jury 1,000 yard/Conspiracy Terminus You could actually take the ToM out of that list if you factored out the two fights I use it for (Daughters/Oryx). One other thing you'll notice. The difference between the number of burn-weapons I used last year and this year is exactly one, and that's only if I'm using the Hung Jury in a fight like Totems or to not kill too many adds at the Warpriest. Otherwise, I have burns in every slot still in year two. I'm sure if you asked everyone to make their list of five primaries, the variety wouldn't be that much better than year one. Light level has done more for diversity than burn nerfing, because someone will use the 310 gun they have until they can level up the 300 gun they love. Burns only made a serious contribution when dealing with enemies with shields. There are lots of enemies without shields that burns didn't do anything for. Who has shields? "Tougher" opponents. Giving them a shield was just a way to make them bullet-spongier, but with an out. When they got upset too many people had the "out", what did they do? Rather than think of a way to increase the complexity and nuance (like say, making a fourth, non-elemental shield, giving some mobs an ability that debuffs elemental damage for 30-60 seconds, etc), they take the easy way out and once again nerf instead of build. The go-to answer is always to take away. It's faster. It's easier. It only hurts the players. But every candle they extinguish makes the game a little colder, a little dimmer, and there are brighter games on the way. The Fallout is coming.
-
Lmao everyone uses smite of merrain or the dead orbit scout, those are the only 2 legendary primaries ppl use. No variation to ppl's loudouts whatsoever
-
There are a ton of guns? Are you kidding me? You know how long it takes to infuse one gun to a decent level above 300? Back in year one I had a variety of guns to choose from to complete end game content. Now all I have is a raid primary, black spindle, and a raid heavy.
