Okay, just did at work. 9 professionals. 2 thought it might be a bit over the top though were far from offended while 7 understood the crystal-clear difference between an analogy for the sake of perspective and an actual comparison, 3 of which are women.
Unnecessarily searching for offense is definitely a sign of the modern era and it's sad. There is such a thing as over correction.
This is something that people will clearly fall on one side or the other without much hope of being swayed by the other so I'm writing this while simultaneously knowing it's a waste of my time. I think a bit of lightening up is in order but if you choose to go through life searching for offense where none is intended then that choice is yours to make.
