We all know that level advantages are enabled in modes Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner. We know what level advantages mean and try to squeeze to the highest level we can achieve, sometimes sacrificing a preferred weapon, but is it worth it?
This is a good article to read if you do not understand the current system of damage reduction in place with level advantages ( http://planetdestiny.com/iron-banner-damage-reduction/ ) The thing is, you don't really feel the difference unless you are at least 10 light difference from someone else. Even then, the damage reduction is minimal. According to the graph in the link provided, a light level 290 would deal about 95%-96% of damage they would normally deal to a light level 310. This damage reduction is very minimal for a substantial decrease in light level.
In Trials of Osiris, I feel like its safe to say that the majority of people that compete are at least 300 light and fall into the range of 300-310. Basically for the majority of people, the level advantages don't matter. I propose that for each delta of level advantage, that would equate to 5 light levels rather that 10. This would increase the competitive nature and allow those that push for a higher light level to be rewarded.
Let me know how you all feel out this.
