I took a break from Destiny because it became a repetitive grind.
A couple of days ago I decided to risk spending £40 on the new expansion, TTK.
I found that all my gear is obsolete, and ALL of my favorite hard-earned weapons have been retired with no upgrade path for year 2 -- Icebreaker, VoC, Gjallahorn. You have to realise that these weapons and the play-style I developed for them were a big part of the joy of the game for me.
Bungie, please read my post about why I am quitting Destiny due to my gear being obsolete. It would take months of grinding to get back to where I was, and by that time the next expansion will make it all obsolete again. I would have considered posted that on the Feedback forum had I realised there was one.
It would take months of grinding to get back to where I was
Then you haven't stumbled across ToC's yet then? ;-) I think most people in Y2 now have more exotics after 2 months than it took the average player about 6..12 months to get in year 1! Also infusion completely changes the game. Anything you like the look of (in particular the perks) can now become your "go to" wepaon or armor because if you get other things higher then you just infuse them into it. Sure it's a right old pain having a vault full of useless stuff that you slowly but surely simply break to make room but there are uses for both the legendaries and exotics. Use the legendary (weapons) to complete the gunsmith quests (three new legendary and three new exotic weapons) and just use your old 170 level exotics to break for shards that you are going to need when infusing into Y2 exotics.
