Not wanting to limit players with elemental raid/trials weapons? Here's an Idea for you then bungie.

Now recently it has come up the Luke Smith has said that raid/trials weapons with elemental burns forced us to play with certain weapons at all times and they don't want to limit us. However, they are quite the unimaginative group.
Raid/Trials elemental primaries could still exist even if they are used just for fodder.
My Idea is a rather simple one and is based around a system already in place. That system being infusion.
Now, before we begin, this would be limited to LEGENDARIES ONLY.
Here is how it would work. Say for example that you have 310 legendary primary that you like and you get 320 legendary primary that has solar damage on it. You could then infuse that legendary into the weaker one and not only gain light from it, but also gain element from the stronger weapon.
This could only be done once. So if your weaker one was still below 320 and you infused again, it would reach 320, but still remain solar even if you fused something that had Arc or Void.
This would allow people to have whatever weapons they want designated to the weapons they love, but at the same time make them more powerful and better over all.
