Nah, everyone's moved on from Year 1.
It's in the past, it's exactly like Ascendant & Radiant materials.
Not of great use in the CURRENT game.

You can turn shards into stuff, why not etheric light?

AMats and RMats are great for Motes and Glimmer. A single VoG Hard run can get you like 12 Motes.

Old materials are great for getting motes at the speaker.

Why bother? 5 motes from public events 4 from ranking up 5 from leveling up People don't run outdated raids for motes. Leave year one behind, everything from it is useless.

Except for the fact that Y1 activities are generally more fun than Y2 Better gear The Vault of Glass Prison of Elders is great for Three of Coins and Weapon Parts The old Raids are a great source of Glimmer, Weapon Parts, and Motes

I wouldn't say the ascendant and radiant materials from the raids are worthless. You can convert them into faction reputation and gain a lot of rep for anyone trying to get those exotic class items. They're the only reason I still run the old raids.

4 motes for running up 5 motes for leveling up 5 motes from public events Running tho outdated raids for motes is a waste of time compared to the methods I've listed.

Not really, seeing as how its much faster and more reliable to just do an old Raid. Its also more enjoyable.

Considering VoG takes 30 minutes now and crota takes ten minutes at the least with 20 motes through a single run its generally much faster so...yeah....

That's 250 glimmer.. So you'd rather play the old raid a bit for 10 minutes rather than playing ONE patrol mission that takes a minute, you get XP and rep and 250-500 glimmer?!

Yes; because Patrol is super-grindish and the old Raids are really fun.

Is of any use? Because I still have tons of it in my vault and the last time I checked, I couldn't even trade it in for rep or anything.

They're a YEAR 1 material, USELESS in the current game.

But shards and energy can traded for glimmer and motes. Making those year one mats have a use in year two
